This has doubtlessly been posted before, but I can't be bothered to traul through the old threads ;)

What are your musical favourites?

Personally, I love the following bands:

Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, Sum 41, Linkin Park, Weezer, Nine Inch Nails, Franz Ferdinand, Idiot Pilot, Panic! At the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Gorillaz, Nickelback...

...to some more pop-ish stuff such as the Sugababes, Jem, Madonna, Black Eyed Peas...

My favourite song ever would probably be 'A Thousand Miles' by Vanessa Carlton, because she has an amazing voice, and the piano piece in that song is impossible to get out of my head. :headbang:

I am very choosy about my music and only go for high quality, i.e. classical music. Many people call me a classical snob as a result, but the way I see it, it's no different than a cancer patient seeking a trained physician over someone pushing for bloodletting.

Aye, some could be classed as 'pop'...but I wouldn't say as much as others.

NIN, Linkin Park and MCR for example are nowhere near pop.

I also like some stuff such as Marilyn Manson, Avenged Sevenfold, AFI, Placebo, HIM, Velvet Revolver, Guns'n'Roses...

Fair enough, classical music can be very relaxing, and gives you a sense of esteem whilst you're at it. :D

Yes, but it can also be quite exciting. I find that Rachmaninoff's Prelude No. 5 in G minor and Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries are quite invigorating.

.......

I'm not even gonna bother this time :p

As for me... Ayreon, Alice Cooper, Radiohead, Dimmu Borgir, Sonata Arctica, Manowar, Queen....pretty much most decent rock and metal. Plus some classical. But I'm picky about that. If it lasts for ages and bores me to death then its no good. If it's written by Chopin for piano then its great :D

Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Jack DeJohnette, John McLaughlin, Thelonious Monk, Wes Montgomery, Chick Corea, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Jaco Pastores, John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett, Regina Spektor, Pat Metheny...

And so much more Jazz.

I like just about everything except most pop from 87 to present, and emo.......I kinda dislike the 'rock' bands from the 80's but there are a few songs that are so cheesy you have to sing them when they come on.

Prog (Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson), metal (SOAD, Trivium, Apocalyptica), prog-metal (Tool), 'post-rock' (65daysofstatic, Explosions in the Sky, early Mogwai), electronica (Aphex Twin), EBM (Front 242), IDM (FSOL, Boards of Canada, Autechre), industrial (VNV Nation, NIN, Laibach), some indie (The Smiths, the Cure).

Edit: Favourite 'song' - Radio Protector by 65daysofstatic. Not actually a song, as there's no lyrics. Certainly my favourite piece of music though. Favourite actual song would be either Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, or Ornament/the Last Wrongs by Oceansize.
