What do you belive was the origin of people? Creationism or Evolution? I personnally think it was evolution because of evidence found in Africa of semi-Human, semi-ape skeleton things

A combination of observed evolution in microorganisms, morphological evidence, and certain patterns in the fossil record lead me to conclude that evolution is a reality. However, this does not necessarily rule out the possibility that God is somehow involved in the process; it simply means that if God is actively involved in speciation, then He is using evolution as His means of creation.

Of course, the existence or nonexistence of God is another topic that crops up every week or so...

i think religion needs to step up its game and show me some hard proof about Adam and Eve or whatever then...i'll look at creationism as a possiblity.

Let me put it this way.

Creationism tells us a reasonably appealing story about how life came to be, involving elements like "we are special","we are not alone". "there is a higher purpose" and so on. It tells us how it should be.

Evolution tells us what appears to have actually happend, based on evidence.

One is based on thought experiment; the other on what we actually observe. Unfortunately the second one tends to give more reliable results...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! Not again. OK, one more time!

Creationism in the sense of a literal 7, twenty-four hour day beginning to life, the universe and everything is ruled out unless you believe in the "Blade Runner" theory of everything beginning, including fossils, 3 minutes ago (i.e. The world was created with evidence of evolution in place) which is just a bit much to swallow.

That said, evolution does not exclude the presence of divine intervention in the rise of mankind nor does a belief in such divine intervention exclude evolution as a valid, scientific theory. They CAN (and IMHO do) co-exist. They are NOT mutually exclusive. Your question is a non-sequiter and should be refined and rephrased if you wish to engender real discussion otherwise you'll get the "Geez, not this shit again" replies piling on you.

Just to make this oft repeated subject more interesting, I'm going to answer "creation" this time. It's strictly once only though.

I think the important thing to remember is evolution is just a theory and not a scientific fact, as it is often treated. I personally as a scientist cant see how everything has evolved from one commmon ancestor.

The simple fact that you put the words "just" and "a theory" next to eachother strongly suggest that you are NOT a scientist.

Oh noes! Its the second sign of the apocalypse, another evolution v creation thread!

and stop being silly, the answer's obviously that we popped into existence spontaneously at 2.37 this morning complete with all our memories.

Feel free to start one which discusses the dozens of options which are neither evolution nor creation. Those poor minorities often get overlooked.
