Bush caved in to pressure to "shake up" his administration.

Bush said, "I'm satisfied with the people I've surrounded myself with. We've been a remarkably stable administration, and I think that's good for the country."

Man, there's another priceless Shrub quote huh?

No, because he had a speech writer tell him what to say! :p

There's any number of possibilities why Card stepped down--one might just be burnout. He's held the job longer than anyone since the 60s--the average lifespan for a CoS is about 2 years, and he's been there for 5 1/2.

There's also the possibility that he's been implicated in the Plame investigation, or that he knows the shit's really about to go down over that or some other scandal, and he's getting out while the getting is good. But I really doubt Bush booted him--if there's one thing Bush has been consistent at, it's been keeping people around as long as they want to be around.

Joshua Bolton, former budget director, is taking Card's place. Guess George likes people named Bolton.

Damn...I'd hoped he'd meant a sacrifice of himself, the Aztec way.

Goddam he's stupid. Stable? Yeah the administration has been stable. Rather than oscilating between brilliance and ineptitude it has been very stably inept.

He's a Republican. For him, stupid stability is good stability.

NO!!! Don't go Andy! I loved that guy, my nickname for him was Ace, and I only have nicknames for the cabinet members I really like. I called him Ace because Ace is the top card, and his last name is Card. Im gonna miss ya Ace. Hopefully, this can make things more stable, like thats possible considering its the most stable in history.

""I hope one day I can clone another Dick Cheney. Then I won't have to do anything."
- George W. Bush
My apologies for not putting the date on it. I haven't found it yet.
