Homer Jay Simpson: Really a Bush-like leadership style? WWHD?

It came to my attention on a concurrent thread that a few of the populace see Bush *not* as entirely evil, or corporate-owned, or the anti-christ, or as a fumbling moron who couldn't possibly have achieved that status without groups like the PNAC and Carlyle making sure the money and the connections did all the work .... not so much as a person whose simple style is just maligned somewhat by the consequences of influence and the natural evils of dealing with the public.

My personal opinion is one or more of the above, but i'm not interested in presenting it here.
Instead, i'm interested to see if any of y'all see things in a similar fashion.
Of course, if that is the case, it's helpful to qualify that point of view with an example from an episode or two, and even better, with an example of blundersome/misunderestimated Bush behaviour.

Discuss, if you would. I'll be 'round on the morrow.

Homer is American. He would have said "dishonorable" and "honorable".

Truer still, 'flu is short for influenza, which is basically "influence".

How dare you infidels insult His Holyness in such a way?!?!? The Lord shall smite you. Where do you make a comparison between the Lord of the Sacred Show and the dumbest president ever?

Actually, the thread idea was from a comparison someone else gave on another thread.
I figured that someone would give a few examples from the series ... like
"I am smart! S-M-R-T! I mean, s-m-A-r-t."
or, given Bush's nature of vacation ...
Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
Homer: Woo-hoo! Four-day weekend.

or his attitude towards reading/learning in general:

Homer: How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?
Couple that with one of Bush's own quotes ...
"You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.'' —Shrubya, Townsend, Tenn., Feb. 21, 2001
or two
"I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves." —Shrubya, Washington, D.C., Sept. 21, 2003
or even three
"I'm also not very analytical. You know I don't spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things." —Shrubya, aboard Air Force One, June 4, 2003

...and there's a trifecta?

;)

well, comparing those two is comparing the most popular man in the US to...well, Bush.
I kid thee not, Homer Jay Simpson is the most popular man in the US, with Abe Lincoln in the shameful second spot.

Sir, i kid thee NOT. In short, Bart looks like Bart, Marge is passable as Marge, Homer is passable as Homer (although the shirt isn't white enough), but Lisa didn't really look like Lisa. And Marge doesn't have her bouffant.
AND, the music teacher was spot-on.

That could be the case, and if so, my apologies.
I've done that more than a few times, partially due my ignorance, partially due a lack of intense review of NS profiles.
Again, for the record, i apologize for maligning anyone in the nature of their gender.

It was a live-action version of the intro sequence, with Bart skating and Homer dropping the rod. Lisa was in the sequence in the music room, being ordered out of the room with her sax since she was playing something completely different than the rest of the crew (Sousa, i imagine ;) )

I heard about it before i'd heard about the full-length feature film about Futurama, due out 2007.

Currently, there is no official release date set for the Simpsons movie. However, the production of the first Simpsons movie has apparently finally started. A team of writers has been selected to pitch the script and first table reads of a script draft have taken place. Variety revealed in May 2001 that the deal with the voice cast for seasons 13-15 included options on two feature films. The producers have repeatedly stressed that the movie cannot be made before the end of the series, but recently both Mike Reiss and Fox publicist Antonia Coffman have stated that they're now attempting to produce the show and the movie simultaneously.

Ay Caramba! "Simpsons" Movie Going
Wednesday June 8 4:52 PM ET

Get ready to toast your Flaming Moes to some excellent news.

The Simpsons movie is off the drawing board and in preproduction.

"You know what? We've just done the table read for The Simpsons movie, so although we've been promoting that we're going to do it, now we're actually doing it and are in production," Nancy Cartwright, who gives voice to Bart Simpson, told BBC Radio 1 this week.

Well, i've got snags for the animated movie ...

Well, this isn't quite good enough. I hope they're not just settling for a live-action intro. :(

Bush: So, what have you guys been doing?
Condi: I fortified relations with Austrlia.
Cheney: And I shot my hunting buddy!
Bush: That's great. (Takes a sip of beer.) Mmmmmm, beer....(To Cheney) What?!

There's another angle unaddressed as of yet - piety?

"I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn't do my job." —Shrubya, to a group of Amish in Lancaster, PA, July 9, 2004

"I've always wondered if there was a god. And now I know there is -- and it's me." - Homer
