There really are only 4 coaches that have a chance of winning this award. By the way if you don't like hockey then don't bother looking for an "I don't care" option because I don't care that you don't care. Poll coming.

I picked Peter Laviolette because he has gotten so much out of a team that nobody expected to do as well as they have done this year. The Hurricanes have gone point for point with the Senators in the Eastern Conference.

Too late, Murray been fired, hasn't he? I agree with you but only if they bring home the Cup.Should the determining factor be whether the coach gets into the 2nd or 3rd rounds.I mean,he wouldn't be a deserving winner if he didn't get his team at least into the conference finals, would he?

You're right he was fired, but the team still had a winning record being 9 games over .500. I think it was a stupid move on the part of the GM, but he saw the same thing the last two years with Murray blowing it in the final stretch.

I agree and I have a feeling that Jaromir Jagr will win the Hart Trophy and the Art Ross Trophy as well. Two of my favorite teams and both in the same conference, but if it came down to it I'd choose my first love Rangers over my 2nd Hurricanes.

There are a lot of strong candidates but the way that the Hurricanes have turned around, by adapting to the NHL shows that the coaching staff are both on target and have dialed their players into the message. Getting both and the results that they have from a team that everyone expected to be another disaster on ice this season, truly defines what deserving of the Jack Adams is all about.

I haven't seen much* Hockey this year but surely the Hurricanes can't have been that bad, didn't they make the Stanley Cup 3 or 4** years ago?

*See None(Apart from the occasional Goal or Save on Sportcenter)
**2 or 3 seasons

Between the year they went to the Stanley Cup finals and this season they pretty much sucked.

'03-'04 Hurricanes were 28-34-8-4
'02-'03 Hurricanes were 22-43-11-6 <<< This was good enough for dead last in the whole Eastern Conference and actually they had the worst record in the entire NHL.

Compare that to this season's record so far 47-19-6 and they have already secured themselves a spot in the playoffs.
