Stupid? What do you mean? THIS IS GREAT!! All you have to do to get a divorce is say Talaq three times in a row!? It's brilliant!! No lawyers, just freedom. Who knew Ilsam was the religion of freedom after all?

Under Viking law, the woman could divorce her husband at will.

I agree with the Muslim scholar - the guy was asleep, so he was not making a conscious decision.

I'm not quite sure how you can see India as a Muslim theocracy when Hindus make up about four fifths of the population.

Domestic disputes for muslims in their area may be settled using Sharia Law. It's not the same thing as the head of state and ruling party being composed of clergy (which is what a Theocracy is.)

Well, if someone is being forced to DIVORCE someone because of some religious person, then that is rule by religion, is it not?

Never claimed otherwise.

But I've been forced to do things (or in some case not to do things) because of religion, I'd hardly say I lived in a theocracy though.

It's civil law to settle disputes between citizens, for followers of that religion. If Sharia law were to exist in your country lets say, muslims could use that system to arbitrate their marital disputes which would have no effect on those who aren't muslims. Doesn't mean you don't live in a democracy.

Anyway, on-topic. This is about the article, not theocracy.

I don't see what the problem is, Islam is just cool like that.
