So basically Saddam ripped off the Soviets' idea of strapping explosives to dogs then setting them off towards enemy tanks?
Anyone know what happened to those dogs? :D

lol, animal warfare is quite effective. British spies used 'exploding rats' during WWII, and I think the Americans killed about 40 or so Vietnamise enemy divers using trained dolphins during the conflict there. Now they've worked out how to control the brains of primitive creatures, they're talking about espionage insects as well. All crazy stuff.
This is a little sad though:
Earlier this month the Pentagon published on its website original documents in Arabic, hoping to find someone who could translate them.
Why doesn't the Pentagon employ anyone who can read and translate Arabic?

Hehe. Maybe all the Arabic readers are either terrorists or lefties. All the righties can only understand US English? :p

They ran back to their owners?
EDIT:
Wait, they were only trained to smell Russian oil and not german oil, so they ran to Russian tanks and not German tanks. Thats it, right?

I always laugh a little when I think of that.

Pretty much - they were trained to go to Russian tanks, because (strangely) they were the only tanks the Russians had. So in combat, they ran straight to the tanks they'd been trained to blow up.

You'd think they'd learn though. If they're really concerned about arabic speaking people attacking them, it would probably be a good idea to figure out what they're saying. Hell, Al Quaeda doesn't even need to make up coded languages, they just have to speak normally and the enemy won't know what's going on.

Now, don't be silly. Everybody can see that that would make so much sense, the Pentagon just might implode under the stress of all that improbabilty.
Seriously, how cool would it be if you clicked around the net and happened on your nation's defense ministry asking if you cared to translate a couple things for them? You could be like "Oh alright, I'll do it. And I wouldn't do it for just anybody, mind you!" and use the opportunity to finally get the world to see just how delicious your recipe for apple pie really is.
Can you imagine anyone confronting Sadam about these documents. The answer would just be wtf have you been smoking
And I can't believe that even the pentagon would be stupid enough to publish a 36 page document siezed from Bagdad on the internet, without even knowing what it says! Wait; yes, yes I can believe that.
