I have never been naked in public. And I hope never to be until I'm in a little bit better shape.
Normally, I wear a t-shirt and long pants. I wear regular swim trunks to the beach.
While I don't mind changing my shirt in front of people, I don't go around shirtless.

Even happier on a nude beach, tried it for the first time a few years ago and there is nothing at all like it.

No. I'm proudly unaustralian, and they can probably find a way to have me tried with sedition or conspiracy or something for saying so. :D
The beach is hot and wet (occasionally sticky) and involves me taking my shirt off. I don't particularly want anything to do with something hot, wet and me being naked or semi-naked if it doesn't involve me getting laid. Furthermore, the sand itches on the way home as it gets into places where it shouldn't, although i'd rather not draw comparisons with sex and itching nether regions in this thread.
Um, so yeah. The beach sucks.

I am a lot less comfortable being "uncovered" in public than I was before I was a mom, but most of that has less to do with my body and more to do with this annoying little thing I have about "how moms should be".
I haven't been to a nude beach, but if I did go I would go in style (my birthday suit) because what would be the point of a nude beach otherwise.
I have only been naked in public 2 times, one by accident and the other under the influence, I don't think I will be going naked in "non-naked" places again any time soon.

"how comfortable are you uncovered/nude in public?"
Now I realize that because of virtually universal prejudice against "old people," some of you are going to think "eeewww," but until my recent operation, I was never reluctant to be seen naked. I kept myself fit by running and working out, and was actually quite proud of my body. Truth be known, I still am, but I'm reluctant to put my scar on display. I suspect that it will heal and begin to disappear in time, especially after I join the local YMCA and begin working out again.

They don't have to stare at you and fantasize on your body if they don't want to.
But I really enjoy being glanced at. I guess that's the narcissist in me. It also helps remind me that even though I'm celibate, it's not because I'm too ugly to be attractive to someone.
I show only a minimum of skin. In public the lowest I'll go is trousers and a t-shirt, and the only difference at home is that I'll wear shorts. I don't often go to the beach, and when I do I wear swim shorts and a rash vest. I avoid swimming pools at all costs.
One thing this poll does prove...there are WAY more guys who play nationstates than women.
The least I'll wear in public is a bikini. And that I'll only wear at the beech (although if I'm coming from the beech and walking in the same town, I can see just putting shorts on on the bottom and walking around with my bikini top assuming it's not too cold...)
Ah, sounds like we forgot about the Scandinavian element.
That's OK. We prefer for you to forget.
In the summer it gets damn hot where I live, so I wear the least amount of clothing possible without being indecent. Usually this amounts to short shorts and a halter top or tank top. If I'm at the beach/pool/lake I'm quite comfortable in an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny (but not yellow polka dot) bikini. Never been to a nude beach, but if I were to go, I would be nude (otherwise what would be the point?).

It depends on where I am. Ambient temperature is a significant factor. Here in Brazil, the less clothes the better under nearly all circumstances. This means naked a lot of the time when at home. However when I lived in the UK (Yorkshire for a large part of the time) clothes were essential for comfort.
So am I comfortable with my own skin - yes. Does this mean I expose it a lot - not always.

But a hairy chest is.
As I live in a cold climate, public nudity is simply not an option. (And no, unlike the Norwegians, I don't go skin diving in 30 below.)
In the summer I'll get down to shorts and a t-shirt. I generally refuse to go down to anything less as I don't want people to panic and start yelling that a bear has gotten lose.
Strangely enough though, since moving to Japan I have had no qualms about stripping down to nothing and taking baths with a bunch of other naked people (some of the opposet sex). Hell, I don't even blink when the cleaning lady wanders by while I'm busy soaking in hot water.
I'm a male and I don't really care about being nude in public but I don't run around naked everywhere either.

I did not say that it has the same cultural associations as boobs do. It is, however, a secondary sexual characteristic, in the same way as a deeper voice, and a protruding larynx are. (Not erotic in any way, but linked to having a Y chromosone rather than two Xs.)
