The Wal-Mart challenge

I was pondering this idea for quite some time, so here it is!

The challenge is to go to Wal-Mart and find out how much of their products are actually made in USA.

To make this easier, we need to pick sections. Since I haven't been to a Wal-Mart in a while, I'll go by their websites sections for now.

The sections are:

Electronics
• Computers
• Digital Cameras
ect..

For the Home
• Furniture & Decor
• Appliances & Housewares
ect..

Sports & Fitness
• Exercise & Fitness
• Camping
ect..

Video Games
• PlayStation2
• Xbox 360
ect..

Toys
• Kids' Electronics
• Dolls & Stuffed Toys
ect..

Gifts & Flowers
• Flowers & Plants
• Gift Cards
ect..

Jewelry
• Wedding & Engagement Rings
• Pendants
ect..

Apparel
• Women's
• Men's
ect..

Baby
• Nursery
• Strollers & Gear
ect..

Garden & Patio
• Hot Tubs
ect..

Music
• CD Store

Movies

Books

Foods, Candies

If you are up to the challenge and won't burst into flaims upon entering the building.. pick a topic and get going!

Anyone interested?

What is this, an endurance test? Because people will log plenty of miles doing this without finding many "made in USA" labels. Wal-mart is practically China's outlet store.

I'd like to suggest a follow-up challenge:

Are Wal-mart's prices really that much lower than anyone else's?

This requires going to more than one store AND checking labels. I've been doing this in an unorganized way for some time, and in my experience, the price difference between Wal-mart and other stores, and between Chinese products and US/North American products is actually not that great. Wal-mart and the other discount super box-stores are not as cheap as they like us to think.

but didn't you know? just merely stepping past those automatic sliding doors would result in the forces of hell coming up and snatching your soul.

That's true. I saw it at the very end of Evil Dead 2: Army of Darkness. That's why they sell guns in those stores -- so's you can fight for your very soul.

When I went over to America a couple of years ago I didn't get the pleasure of going to Wal-Mart :(.

It's a bit hard when there's no Wal (Satan) Mart in Australia yet.

Really that bad huh?

And even worse is that Canadian Walmarts embodies all the pure evilness of its masters in the US, but without the guns in the back for you to fight for your soul with.

Sorry, I have boycotted Wal-Mart. I will not enter their stores. I have not been in a Wal-Mart in quite a while. Interestingly enough, I can still buy everything I need and if I can't buy it cheaply, I make it.

I wish everyone would do the same.

I've only ever been in a Wal-mart once. My friend was desperately searching for wasp traps and this was her last resort. We spent 40 minutes in the place, and when we were back in her car I told her, "For the record, I would rather become a prostitute than work at Wal-mart." I had never seen such miserable, unhappy wrecks of humanity as the poor bastards who worked in that place, looking like they were praying for death and wishing Wal-mart paid them enough to buy a gun to fight for their soul with.

PS: They didn't have any wasp traps.

Yea it does suck...we have a big Wal-Mart supercenter too. I went all up and down the dishes and silverware isle like "wheres the sporks!!?" And I even asked an employee and they don't sell any. Piss on Wal-Mart! They shall feel the mighty wrath of my spork! :sniper:
