What Would You Do For Money and Fame?

I'm not looking for assassins here but I was wondering what the general NationStates public would do for wealth, luster and splendour. How far would you go to be top dog?

Forget doing it for money and fame...I'd do it for a Klondike Bar

I don't need any fame - as for the money part, meh - I'm a little bit too lazy to work my ass off just to get rich (and probably lose my health and social life while at it).

In addition to most of those...I'd sell my soul...well, I would if I had one...

Yes, and share it with all your NationStates pals.

I'm disappointed to see that "Work" is not an option on your poll.

I sold my soul to my singing teacher. She controls all my actions, but I'm very close to getting a lead in my school's next musical (or so I like to think).

"Train arduously"? Doesn't that fit into the "Work" section?

Can any "Others" please specify what their option would be.

I assume she turned you into a really good singer in return?
You should kill her and take back your soul...that way you can make another deal.
And good luckwith the musical.:)

Thanks!
Yes, I'm now quite a good singer, if I do say so myself. And she's old enough that I probably won't need to worry about killing her. In the next ten years, I'll probably get my soul back.

I'd eat a Klondike bar.
while neither money nor fame are entirely undesirable, in and of themselves, niether do i labour under the delusion of expecting either, in and of themselves, to be sources of gratification.
creating and exploring are these, neither of which require, nor are directly furthered by, the dominance of anything.
the kind of world we all have to live in is something i do care about, and have certain, perhaps personal, though i do believe them likely to prove universal bennifical, preferences.
and neither trying to impress anyone, nor the pseudo sophestries of excitement addiction, are anywhere among those preferences either.
this is not about trying to be some kind of a saint either. to reiterate; it is about the kind of world we all, myself included, have to live in.

Simple thing, really ....
Desire leads to suffering. Once we're able to cast off desire, all will be well.
If you desire money, then the fact that you have none will cause you to suffer.
If you desire fame, then the fact that you have none will cause you to suffer.
I you desire the lack of desire, then the fact that you can't acheive it ...
Ah hell ... I've babbled enough on this ...
Money is a fool's errand and fame is fleeting because no man lives forever.
That's it.

I might've felt that way fifteen years ago, but I'm much happier now with a better-than-average income and extended paid vacation. Happier than I was dreaming of fame and starving in a communal apartment.

Mmmm ... yes ... assume all you want.
I own 27 acres of land, live in a 7 bedroom house (bought, not inherited), pay my own bills, do not have a foodstamp card, and make more money than the average wage jockey dreams about from my composition and payola as a musician.
Doesn't change a damn thing.
I still open my home to poor people (like now I have some Katrina victims here) and I still make my own soap, resin glue, and grow my own food garden (no, I don't hire Mexicans, I till my own soil).
So I disagree. There is no happines in wealth.
I advise everyone who thinks Capitalism is so great to read Pearl Buck's "The Good Earth".

Find an old rich guy who was gonna croak soon to marry that I didn't have to sleep with or be sexual with...basically we call this the "Anna Nicole move" :D haha
I don’t really care about fame, but I would do all those things listed and then some for a large sum of money. Life could be so much easier...
