Centralization is the antithesis of participatory democracy and a direct route to absolutist tyranny.

The only legitimate form of governance is true self-governance through participatory, grass-roots democracy.

I am a libertarian and therefore abit annoyed by the trends of british politics at the moment. Having 3 main parties fighting over the centre merely indicates the polling and focus groups have become to accurate/relied upon and politicians are fighting for votes rather than a good ideas. it also makes politics quite boring and a turnoff to many voters.

I am not against devolution particuarly, but i do oppose it as it is happening now in Britain. While powers are being centralised in Brussels they are being removed from westminster, some going to regional assemblies. The hidden agenda here is to have regions competing against each other for funding from EU and will remove democratic power from the people. I believe centralisation is very bad and more power should just rest with the individual.

I actually like centralism, but am not bound to it. I certainly think that the USians could do better without the 'states rights' crap.

A Decentralised Federation, with emphasis on Proportional Representative Democracy is the way to go, IMHO. Some degree of centralisation, but clearly defined as what is acceptable to be centralised, and what is not, is a good thing.

I dislike centralisation. I agree with the sentiment that it is the anti-thesis of democracy. I believe it helps to create a democratic elite which most have a tough time becoming part of - essentially an aristocracy that is detached from the country it is governing.

Centralisation also promotes a one-size-fits-all ethos. Again, making it harder for many, not only to change the system, but be able to use it.

I do see how centralisation could aid the command structure of an organisation, and make it more able to deal with unexpected situations at the national or above level.
