Exxon sets the hounds upon Greenpeace

Unabashed Greed

Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe giant oil corporation, and well known polluter, among other things, when they say that they didn't have a "non-profit" watchdog group they fund themselves send the IRS to audit Greenpeace's US branch.

Here's the story (http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB114291044305003774-TOpAth_GWFzcGJaKzMWSR6ZEXqk_20060328.html?mod=blogs)

BTW, Greepeace passed the audit just fine, in case you were wondering

Maybe Greenpeace should send the IRS to audit ExxonMobil.

According to its Web site, PIW was founded in 2002 "in response to the growing misuse of charitable funds by nonprofit organizations and the lack of effort by government agencies to deal with the problem." Its motto: "Keeping an Eye on the Self-Appointed Guardians of the Public Interest."
I was entirely unaware of the scourge of growing misuse of charitable funds by nonprofit organizations and the lack of effort by government agencies to deal with (it) in 2002. What are the chances anyone else was aware of it - assuming of course that they're not on the payroll of Exxon Mobil, that is.

They set up a puppet organisation? That tactic is so old.

Audit Exxon, I say. And then execute their CEOs for good measure. :D

Peta is pretty insane but Greenpeace is a much more respectable organization (with some wacko's who really shouldn't be part of the organization).

According to one of the founders of Greenpeace (who has since left), it's become very corporate and controlled and corrupt. This is why he left.

I think I remember reading an article about it a while ago. Is it really all that bad, though? I mean compared to PETA (another organization that I thought I liked but found out it's insane).

It's a shell game done to divert attention and take the initiative away from Greenpeace; honestly, if I ran an oil company (or any company), I would use the exact same tactics. It's nothing more than a political play, and could be a very useful one at that.

Well, when they're not being evil, they look like the sickly puppies that came out a little too early, and someone should've flipped the bucket on them.
