Wallgreens sued over "insulting" prescriptions

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/sfl-pwalgreens23mar23,0,5994094.story?coll=sfla-home-headlines

Apparently some of the employees were using the note field to fuck around rather then use it in an inappropriate manor

Personally I am normally against emotional distress lawsuits as usually (in my opinion) they are frivolous but in this case I am kind of in the middle

I mean among other things this older woman was being treated for anxiety disorder and bi-poler LONG before this happened. And they had to have known that (she was a regular customer for all her medications for those disorders)
They knew she had issues with self image and anxiety and depression and they still fucked with her.

I've put some fucked up notes in peoples accounts, but would never in a million years do it if they where able to see it, especially if I where despensing medication. I'm going to bet that some dick didn't think shit through and didn't realise that she'd see it. That's not an excuse, just how I think that happened.

I have put some notes of that type on people's accounts but not so insulting, when I worked for a tax firm, they were more to help the next person who got said client than to insult anyone. I don't think there is a way for the clients to see them though.

They are notes like "doesn't keep track of anything good luck figuring out deductions" or "is very disorganized, schedule an extra hour to be safe"

Thats pretty unprofessional. I hope the entire industry pays attention and reminds their employees that this wont be tolerated.

I do work for a law firm- we are in the habit of never putting anything in notes that we wouldnt want to be read out loud in court or by our clients. Seemingly harmless comments can look pretty bad down the line if they get other's attention.

In a country where most jobs involve some type of customer service, people should be more aware and more responsible.

As for the law suit- I think maybe Walgreen's should consider some type of good faith gesture towards their customer, but I dont agree with anyone that would give the customer some large compensation award.

Personally, I believe the company should first and foremost have the guilty employees offer their sincere excuses in person to the lady(and other victims). If they don't want to apologize for being rude assholes, they can always get another job. And perhaps offer the victims a couple of free prescriptions or something, but I agree this might not be a case for hundred of thousands of dollars in damages.

This isn't a frivolous lawsuit, people. This is mental health - and Walgreen's and it's employees ought to be pilloried for these inexcusable lapses in judgement.

I don't know about punishing the whole company, but those employees should be fired immediately. This is so incredibly unprofessional and -- as we see -- it damages the whole company's reputation. If I were CEO of Walgreen's I'd kiss the plaintiff's ass something fierce, offer money, and offer the figurative heads of those employees on a platter in hope of clearing my company's good name. If Walgreen's won't fire them, then yes, I'd name Walgreen's in the suit just to teach them a lesson.

I worked for lawyers too. You never, never, never put anything in writing you don't want to be called out for later, and if you do, and you do get called out for it, you take your punishment like a grown-up.

You mean they're supposed to use it as a Victorian-era house of prostitution? :p

Seriously though... sounds like something I would do. Good to know one can get sued for it, so I don't have to pay people I hate thousands of dollars just for writing something they didn't like.

I think there's a difference between, say, leaving notes that she's difficult or seems a little loose in the head, and then calling her "psycho" or a bitch. I don't think this is entirely frivolous, but personally I can see the other side as well. I work in an attorney's office from time to time, and occasionally I or one of the other assistants in the office will leave notes for one another in regards to certain clients -- who not to contact on the phone, how to act around certain clients when they come into the office, etc -- because some of them come off as really just kinda freaky. But NEVER have any of us put down anything that we would regret the clients seeing -- that's entirely unprofessional and the fact that it's happened on a large scale in this case is distubring.

Not that I have to worry about it....I'm not at Walgreens anyway, plus I get most of my medication straight from my doctor's office.

For nearly 20 years, Elizabeth Noah has patronized the Fairway Drive Walgreens near her home in PGA National, she said

If somebody was patronizing me for 20 years I'd be out for revenge, too.
