I, and indeed everyone I know or have ever seen on television should be so lucky.

About as much as I would "appreciate" any war. You know, with all the death and misery and such.

Will it be televised? It'd be nice if they made like a reality show out of it. Survivor: POW Camp or something like that.

Blue states v Red states.

That wouldn't be fair though. Red states (conservatives) have all the military and blue states (liberals) have all the intelligencia.

Am I in favor of one? No.
Will there be one? Yes.

Does NationStates value my opinion? No.
Do I wish you all have a good evening? Yes.

My AP Government teacher believes that abortion could, potentially, bring the nation to civil war.

And, no, I wouldn't like it. What a silly question...

Things haven't gotten NEARLY bad enough yet to justify a full on civil war. If bush killed congress and declaired himself dictator, and half the country went with him, then we'd be talking civil war. But a civil war has a massive cost.

Money is too precious. There will be no civil war.

Your government teacher is a dope. The government's not about to let leftists lose the right to kill their offspring.

Blue states VS Red states

Blue States and Red States are a myth. The political leanings of the people living in every state of the US are very mixed, with no states being radically red or blue.

Besides, what basis is there for this red and blue business? Just because there are only two political parties in the US doesn't mean that there are only two ideologies and that these are mutually exclusive. As with most things politics the red and blue division is an oversimplification taken too far.

What he said. A civil war is the overthrow of a goverment, while what all of you are thinking of is a cessesion.
So no, no civil war. That would be too wierd.

And no on a cessesion. I mean, Red Vs Blue just doesn't work, unless there are charactors named "Church", "Tucker", "Sarge", or "Donut" involved.

What the hell is a cessesion? I've heard of cession, and I've heard of secession, but of this... never.

actually, a good deal of the military weaponry is made in blue states or by corps. centered in blue states...UTC, Colt, General Electric, and Boeing spring to mind.

Not going to happen. Much as we like calling each other names; we still need each other.

Well at least it would be more interesting to watch than American Idol and would finally give me something to do on those lazy afternoons.

So, yeah ... bring it on!

Let's make it shirts vs. skins.

Although I don't think it would ever happen...should the religious right try to outlaw abortion...and if the marijuana legalization movement picks up steam...and if Quebec finally leaves Canada...

Then, hypothetically, I could see a realignment of states/provinces. Perhaps four nations emerging. Quebec, a pseudosocialistic nation comprised of most of the rest of Canada, parts of New England, and California, a right wing Christian almost-theocracy from most of the U.S. south and parts of the midwest, and a libertarian paradise out of Oregon, Alaska, New Hampshire, Hawaii, and PEI. But I would need to put a lot more thought into it if I wanted to be more specific.

The Blue States would win. We, liberals, have all of the intelligent people, capital, and industry. Also, quite a few military hubs are in blue states, such as California.

There's not going to be a Civil War. The general public really doesn't care enough to rise to arms, and nothing's really going to make them mad enough. Abortion? Most aren't going to kill because of so trivial an issue (relatively). It doesn't affect anyone's livelyhood, it doesn't ruin a state's economy; the only thing it does is affect someone's moral beliefs. And even those can be changed. I don't remember hearing about a civil war because women gained the right to vote. There won't be a civil war if the rights of homosexuals are established or taken away. And there certainly won't be a civil war over abortion.

Ahhhh, common sense at last. And here I thought everyone on this board was blind.
