'Rap' is a broad term.

Run DMC?
Tupac?
50 cent?
Rage Against the Machine?
Public Enemy?
Outkast?

What? Narrow it down a bit.

I like rap.

I just hate all non-Outkast rap that gets played on the radio.

There's some sub-popular rap that's really good though. Madvillain, being a big example.

Just, those rich businessmen pretending to be gangsters singing to teenagers about how great it is to shoot people and how they've got all the womenz and da gunz and da money...make me sick.

I like Biggie, Wu-Tang, and all that all school stuff. 50 cents pretty good too.

That D4L stuff is crap though.

No, I hate rap. It's probably my least favorite genre (or was that country or noise music?). I go for serious music like Beethoven, Mozart, etc. not silly pop tunes that no one will remember in 10 years.

two words: VANILLA. ICE.

'nuff said.

Seriously, the majority of it is really immature and based on this aquisitve ideology "Look at my guns and my cars and my bitches and feel my unwarranted angst, Aren't I impressive!" etc. Waaa Waaa Waaa. No time for it, come back when you can carry a tune with more chords than I can count on one hand...

It's more self indulgent than Emo.

I can't stand any rap 'music'. It's just a load of noise made by a bunch of talentless idiots.

yes and the rhyming is bad to. I mean, most if it is just done by adding -izzle to two words that do not rhyme. Rap is stupid.

I don't exactly like rap in the way that I like other types of music. I just think rap is incredibly funny. Although, lately it has been little nasty to listen to. I mean come on, it used to be just about shooting people. Now, you can lose your virginity just from listening to a rap song.

I've always been amused that such an anti-classist such as you has such a classist outlook on music.

How is that different than the majority of other genres?

It's hardly classist to insist on quality. Would you trust a bad kidney to an untrained physician? I think not and I don't know of anyone with a hint of sanity who would. Making great music is a skill that requires talent and training, not a cool image and the backing of the culture industry.

Alternatively, note that popular music is the process of capitalism and is thus hardly anti-classist, anyway. It isn't the working class calling the shots in the music industry, you know. Given the choice between two decidedly classist genres of music, I choose the one with higher quality.

Rap may have the best beats, but the lyrics are crap. They are said with no musical talent or regard for the music. Its horrible waste that is like a pile of sludge.

I listen to many things, but Rap isn't really music as their is no musical talent in the voices, depth in the beat itself. Its USUALLY monotone with some techno added in. (Half the beats are stripped right from techno to, just rip out all the trance/airy part of the fluidity of Paul Van Dyke or Sasha and you have Rap without voices.)

Wow, you did not name a single good rapper in your pseudolist. Blackalicious, Saul Williams, Damian Marley, Macka B, Zack de la Rocha, Lyrics Born, KRS-One, Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow: that's the good stuff.

I see you make decisions about music based on what you hear on the radio and un-Music Television.

I hate the vast majority of it, but once and a while I will come across a rap track that I think is good, like "High Road" by Fort Minor or something like that. I also think k-os is very good, posibly the best I have heard.

You can't spell "crap" without "rap"!

I like some rap, but not all of it. You'll have to be a bit more specific in what you mean by "rap". In the meantime, I'll just say that recently I've been on a Swollen Members (no really, that's the name of the group!) kick. They're awesome.

Then you should be able to do it without problems. I will expect a link to a recording within the hour.

I put other because well, I don't prefer rap when I'm wearing white T-shirts more then any other time of the day.

Although, I like all rap as well as just about any other form of music. The only music I don't like is extremely twangy Country, such as the older Randy Travis CDs and even then I like some of the songs.

Actually yes, I do enjoy rap music, and I am not a "whigger". No rather I love to hear the struggles of african american lives, then how they beat all the odds and make it. I am really into Nas. I think by far he is the realest out there...But thats just me

rap usually sucks compared to classic rock, but some is funny and some good like eminem, vanilla ice, AZ, g-unit, and L-TOWN are the most gangsta dudes EVER
