With the election (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=10617748&posted=1#post10617748) now closed, these are the results. I would like each party to decide on its MPs and announce them in this thread as quickly as possible.

Anarchy at Any Cost Party => 1 seat
Democratic Socialist Party => 7 seats
Emphatically Silly Party => 3 seats
Militant Leftist Party => 1 seat
MOBRA => 1 seat
New British Imperialist Party => 1 seat
NS Classic Liberals => 2 seats
NS Conservative Party => 6 seats
Technocratic Party => 0 seat
United Democratic Communist Party => 3 seats

The procedures for submitting legislation to Parliament, once all 25 MPs have been named, can be found here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=426484).

+1 seat for the UDCP!

a socialist stronghold of 11 seats!
44% of parliament controlled by the centre-left :D

this has been a good election :)
(maybe not technically, but the outcome is good!)

i'd like to say a big well done to all campaigning members of the UDCP :fluffle:
and a big hello to all additional members of the United Communist Front :)

Actually, I take that back. To propose as such would be to consider this whole debacle as of any consequence.

If I was to 'liven up' that would entail taking things even more seriously, as opposed to just dimissing the whole thing as a bit of a laugh, which is what I did.

Well...it doesn't. Only one piece of legislation was submitted in the last Parliament (you may have noticed the Conservatives making a big thing of that), and then the party that submitted it (the Conservatives) were accused of doing the very thing the legislation was acting against (puppet voting).

in the first session of parliament we tried a whole raft of proposals and the like (the UDCP submitting the majority... *cough*) but we couldn't agree on anything. not even a fundamental right to human life.
IIRC it was mostly the NSCL who put up most of the resistance there. personally i got irritated and demotivated to bother trying to submit proposals (why i freely gave up my seat for the second parliament)... but now i reckon it's worth another try. i think this parliament can be more effective than the last two (and it's less split, too, especially with a united front on the left :))

details for submitting a proposal to parliament can be found... somewhere. the OP of this thread i think.

The NSCP does not view this as a defeat. We have gained an extra seat from last term, and we have thrown out all allegations of voting fraud.

We are currently writing up a treaty that any member may sign and promise they will not spam, swear or generally be a nuisance, we are just working out the exact details.

But thank you the electorate for election us for a second term.

MPs are being decided as we speak.

Hmm, just floating the idea as a casual observer, but is there the possibility of a left-right coalition here, as opposed to the Democratic Socialists throwing their lot with the Radical Socialists/Communists? The result would probably be economically centrist (which the Democratic Socialists are pretty darn close to anyway going by their platform; pro-welfare-state definitely, but not very socialist per se).

its a fictional semi-RP (ie. not connected with the other NS roleplays) thing engaging the General forum of this place. we hold elections (the fun part) every 4 months (this latest one just past being the 3rd such election) and then form a parliament to aid effective, structured debate with the view to effect laws.
the parliament has no power, nor is it specific to any nation - fictional or otherwise - and so far the parliament hasn't done much (hence why the elections are the fun bit!)... its all just a bit of fictional fun really :)

We need some deadline or we could still be waiting for MPs to be confirmed by the time the next election is due. It's been a week since the end of the election. I say give it until midnight on Monday (GMT) for MPs to be announced. That's 102 hours - should be plenty.

That way one doesn't have to sift through 1000s of pages of this thread to find out if anyones passing something, like gas or legislation.Oh, yes, I agree. I think that's the way they did it anyway - to give each proposal its own thread. In addition, I think the way they did it was to give each proposal a discussion thread, to hash out the language of the proposal itself. When the discussion was over it was taken to a new thread to vote on, if the MPs voted to vote on it. If they didn't vote to take it to the new thread, it just died.

I'm not quite sure I understand the first part.

If the party does not get all of the seats it planned for, it still gets everyone in place regardless. If it gets more, it is a step ahead and it is easier to fill other seats with some already taken care of.
