Even the catholics recognize evolution, and they more or less just forgave Galilao...got to wonder what the hang up is with the 'flat earthers'...

I didn't think they existed anymore - that society died off in the eighties...didn't it?

It's just my derogatory term for those who haven't caught up yet.

I'm not certain... See this (http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/flatearth.html), about the Society, Wikipedia's article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth_Society) on the topic, and, most amusingly, the Flat Earth Society website (http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/), which is actually only a forum. I first visited it a few months back; I should go and take a look and see how they've been doing... ;)

I've lost count on the number of times it's been said on here that not all of us Christians want to stone everyone to death for believing science, but I'm more than happy to repeat it.
I've met the Archbishop. He's a lot taller than I expected (I realise that my meeting him has nothing to do with anything, but he is one of the few 'famous' people I ever have met so I wanted to, well, name drop.).

I'm kidding!!!

I've just had a look. Are they being ironic? It's so hard to tell.

What's the old joke? The Flat Earth Society has members from all round the globe. And the Spherical Earth Society members come from all four corners.

I wouldn't derive much hope from the statement. Quite frankly, the CofE will cheerfully oppose communion, marriage, the idea of the resurrection, the idea of Christs divinity and indeed every single lessontaught in the Bible up to and including Revelations (Don't eat mushrooms on an empty stomach).
The only thing that matters to the CofE at this point is offending as few people as possible. If Demons got a minority rights group, they'd avoid offending them as well.

So what was all this racket about the gay bishop?
Methinks you weren't paying attention, they still haven't entirely cooled off over it.
In this case, the Archbishop is taking a position that has been a part of Christianity for years.

He does it to assume the outward characteristics of an owl and therefore to appear wise by association.
