Proposal for those who dislike the NS General Election

Let's face it, you can't stop the election from happening, and merely not voting sends no message whatsoever. Instead, use your vote to contribute to the demise of the NS Parliament System. Both the Technocratic party and the AACP wish for the end of democracy, and as such we will oppose further NS General Elections. A vote for us is a vote against the NS Parliament and against Ariddia's tyranny. We propose to the protestors of NS: vote Technocrat or AACP, whichever seems most amusing or consistent with your beliefs. This will allow you to show your protest in a lasting and effective fashion.

I have never voted once

But I would rather have the annoyance than to restrict freedoms of thoes that wish to participate

It is because I want democracy that I oppose the election - we've no need for representation by proxy, we can represent ourselves! Voting in the election for people who want to abolish democracy would thus be quite silly.

We probably won't be able to completely shut down the election system, at least this time. Voting for one of our parties will, however, allow you to take a stand to attempt to convince others of the foolishness of their actions. You won't be limiting their freedom, but you may be beginning to convince them to your point of view.

Notice how the two leading parties are the Democrats and the conservatives.

When the Parliament falls, true democracy (at least our normal Anarcho-Modocracy) will likely emerge from the wreckage.

I have an even better proposal:
Realize that this whole thing is really quite silly and entirely inconseuquential. If it bothers you, then just ignore it and it will go away in time.
There, I just solved the second biggest problem confronting NS with 2 sentences, aren't I clever? Now I'm off to stop AIDS, discover cold fusion and light some homeless people on fire.

It bothers me and the usual comforts like setting homeless people on fire just don't satisfy anymore. I need violent revolution against the SYSTEM!

I am annoyed that The Birthday Party was not listed as a potential voting option. As such, I voted the for the Emphatically Silly Party instead.

Anarchy!
Tired of democracy? Then vote AACP or technocrat.
It doesn’t have to make sense.

Yay! Thanks for your support.
If you don't like the election, either don't vote, or take the piss. A vote for the ESP is taking the piss. Ergo, vote ESP.

Yes, the NS General Community is small enough for direct democracy to work.

But half the fun of this is the fact that we pretend it's large-scale and therefore get a taste for party politics and the kind of democracy many of us will be parts of someday.

The NS Community usually operates via direct democracy, in polls and such. Parliament is the only thing standing in the way of this, and both Technocrat and AACP support the dissolution of Parliament. If you haven't voted yet, vote for one of us.

"Want to get rid of Parliament? Vote in parliament!"

I have a better idea: realize that polls in NS General, etc, are not in any way threatened by NS General Parliament. It already has no power. Thus your participation in a powerless organization for the purpose of getting rid of a powerless organization is entirely, shall we say, STUPID.

I realize that the NS Parliament is mostly irrelevant. However, it must be at least subtly irritating to have all of these silly people around taking the whole stupid thing so seriously. Voting for one of the anti-Parliament parties would give the NS community the message that they should all find better things to do with their time. It's like a big :upyours: to those who actually care about this sort of thing. Voting for an anti-Parliament party in Parliament at any case has the advantage of pure, delicious irony.

and its wonderfully ironic how much you lot care about something you claim to think other people care too much about...

Don't get me wrong, we want votes as much as anyone. We just realize that our aims happen to coincide in rather favorable ways with a substantial set of potential voters, voters who don't care about the election themselves.

Actually, this thread is less aimed at those who don't care and more at those who care enough to oppose, like much of the former Birthday Party.

A number of people who supporte the Birthday Party voted for the ESP, because it was the silly party with the most votes. I think we've done quite well out of them.

No, I tell a lie. It was actually because of our witty and highly original campaign adverts. :p

No one else interested? Daistallia (or however it's spelled), have you also joined the party of your ESP foes?
