As much as I like my beer, sometimes I'm in the mood for liquor... if I'm making drinks at home usually it's a southern comfort and a coke or a rum and coke or a sambuca and coke. If I go to a bar I usually get amaretto sours or whiskey sours... and cream liqueurs are always delicious as well... mmm...
At any rate, alcohol is good.
But I'm not a huge fan of vodka.

Vodka, definitely. It's the only thing that I have found that I can drink, get really plastered, and not have a hangover the next day. If I were to rank the vodkas that I have had, they would be:
1. Zolotoye Krug

4. Absolut
5. Stolichnaya
6. Smirnoff

When did enjoying oneself become a test of manliness? Vodka is simply water and ethanol, there's nothing enjoyable about the taste unless mixed with a drink that has flavor. In which case, that would be one's favorite drink and not the vodka. Not only that, but it dilutes whatever you mix it with, much like ice.

In third place we have *drum roll* Tanqueray! I have never gotten so drunk on any thing else.. Drank half the bottle with jones soda and it told me to start drinking the fourth placer.. http://www.strangecosmos.com/images/content/105352.jpg *giggles*
Rum! *bows to Capt. Morgan* I got very drunk one night and decided that it would be best to mix Jeger, CM, vodka, whiskey, and I thnik schnopps in an iced tea carton.. Good times!

I swear I've made this same argument atleast three times on this forum...
Whiskey and whisky are the same thing. It is broken into four types: Irish, like jamesons; Scotch, like Chivas; Bourbon, like Wild Turkey (also includes Jack Daniels, although that is technically not bourbon); and Blended, like Canada Club.
Look at the lable on the bottle. They are all scotch. Don't believe me? Look it up. Additionally, scotch is spelled without the "e" in general. Only cheap knockoffs have the "e".
eta: The only difference between "whisky" and "whiskey" is the spelling. It is out of tradition, and does not imply any difference in the liquor itself.

Irish and US whiskey is spelt with the E; Scotch whisky is spelt without. There are a few exceptions in the US or Ireland, perhaps, but not in Scotland AFAIK.
The method is definitely not the same. There are rules as to how Scotch can be made. It has to be aged in oak casks, in Scotland for at least 3 years. American bourbon whiskey has to be made with at least 50% corn. There are many other stipulations that must be met before something can be called "whisky", or "whiskey" or any subtype thereof. It is not just a matter of water.

Whiskey is made in Canada if it is blended, bourbon region of America if it is Bourbon, Ireland if it is Irish, and Scotland if it is scotch. It is spelled Whisky only if it is a true scotch.

Oh, also, there are various types of Scotch - Single Malt, the bestest, vatted malt, which is a blend of various Single Malts, Blended, which contains a mix of grain and malt whisky, and single grain, which is, well, not commonly found, because it's a bit unremarkable.
The term "Scotch Whisky" is legally protected, just like "Champagne" "Kentucky Bourbon" and "Camembert", so unless it meets the criteria to be called Scotch, it ain't Scotch, however similar it might be.

for those interested, these are the criterion for the assorted whiskeys:
Scotch Whisky (spelled without an E):
Always distilled in Scotland, but not always bottled there
made from either malt or grain whiskey (fermented barley or cereals, respectively)
must be a minimum of four years old total, and aged in Scotland for three years
smoky flavor from ingredients that are dried over eat moss fires
Bourbon Whiskey
Made in Bourbon County, Kentucky
Must contain 51% corn or sour mash and aged for atleast 4 years in brand new charred oak barrels
Blended Whiskey
several grains are used in the distillation process
contains atleast two of the following: rye, wheat, oats, or barley
Usually made in the US or Canada
Light flavor and at least 80 proof
must age at least three years
Irish Whiskey
Always produced in Ireland
Dstilled from Barley and other grains, ingredients dried over coal fires
always 86 proof
