I have a scar on my neck where I got stabbed in a huge fight a few years back (long story, can't share it today) and though it's not terribly noticable from day to day, the past half-week or so it's gotten red and somewhat....I don't know, I guess you could say it appears inflamed. I've had this scar for some 4 years and never has it done this before, I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas/suggestions/conspiracy theories as to what could've caused it.

The Illuminati.

In all seriousness, just pop along and see a doctor. It might be reacting to something in the air or somesuch, or it might be irritated - are you wearing any tight collars or jumpers that would scratch it, which might be the case as you say it only started a short while ago.

But see a doctor anyway - they might prescribe a cream to stop it hurting.

What? I was responding to that idiotic comment. There's no need to say that the OP is going to die because his neck hurts from a scar. It's most likely just an irritation.

Have you been unconsciously scratching or playing with it lately? ;)

Pay a visit to your local pharmacy or druggist; there are probably several ointments and the like that can be used to assuage the pain. I wouldn't know what to use, as you're in the USA IIRC and I'm not all too familiar with their pharmaceutical products. (Actually, I don't know... you did spell "colour" correctly that once after all...)

If the problem appears to be getting worse even after this, consult a doctor.

You dont mention any physical sensations so assuming you have none (ie pain, irritation such as itchyness), then I would go along to a pharmacist/chemist where there is a qualified pharmacist in attendence and have them look at it (they should know whether to refer you for any further medical investigation).

If however there are any physical sensation symptoms I would go directly to the doctor. Because this is your neck you need to treat it a bit more seriously than if it were on an extremity (for instance your arm or leg). I would get it looked at by someone who has some medical training ASAP. It very probably is nothing whatsoever to worry about (so you would at least get a peace of mind benefit) however not all worriesome conditions include pain or irritation sensations and because of the location you ought to act promptly.

So do us all a favour Simionist and head to 'the professionals' then we can all rest easier knowing you are in good health...;)

It could be nothing, but it could be something and I think the only person on here qualified to give you bonafide professional advice is Aerou.

Although, I'd recommend going to a doctors office or hospital and getting put in triage. If it is serious they will deal with it, if not they will send you home.

Check with your doctor as he/she can give you an educated opinion. Other than that, I would recommend making some chicken soup. Eat at least half of the soup and soak some sterile Goss in the other half. Place the sterile Goss pads on the scar for several hours. If you are not better in a couple of days see a doctor. :D

But it might not be an irritation and the OP could die if he/she doesn't seek competent medical aid. If that happened I'll bet you would feel bad. So, the person who posted the "you are going to die" was just trying to get the OP to seek medical aid. Sheeesh. :D

It seems someone has activated your implanted chip. Go to the basement and lock yourself up - your never know what you'll do in the next 24 hours.
And don't say you haven't been warned!

(On a more serious note, while there are some real doctors around NS - there just gotta be! - go there IRL if the problem persists.
Have you eaten anything spicey? Used new starch or detergent? Don't laugh - has the weather changed dramatically in the last 24 hours? Jeez, could pretty much be anything!)

Give it 5 years, and that number will go up by at least one. It's not like they are going to get any better by then (and hopefully they won't get any worse).
