How many times do I have to say "I was wrong, I'm an idiot"? I've got it on copy and paste now.

Because you're being less than genuine, forgive me if I don't consider it to actually be a response. You've said several times that your claims aren't a realization but an expression of apathy.

What is so hard about actually taking the opportunity to learn about a topic you clearly care about. You are responsible for 25% of the posts in this thread. Why don't you make the effort amount to something for you and everyone who responded to you?

Idiocy is not low IQ or an inherited condition (it's greek translation is something along the lines of individualism). What it means is someone who is blinded to the facts due to ignorance. A true idiot does not know he/she is one. A "self-aware idiot" isn't one to begin with. It is someone who is not bothered to improve themselves.

Listen, if it looks like a white guy, acts like a white guy, talks like a white guy, then it's a fucking white guy. And so is his father. You guys, and apparently, scientists as well, are telling me that our white guy is more closely related to some black guy than his own father, then fuck your classification system. It ain't no good.
Apparent to whom? Someone who suffers either from a very poor reading/comprehension level, a distinct inability to critically reason or both? Perhaps. But to anyone who can read and comprehend adequately and has no particular critical reasoning critieria, nothing of the sort was suggested by the posters who have so patiently tried to enlighten you with a few facts.

It is as simple as this.
Person A is from Africa and would to your mind be simply 'black'.
Person B is from Scandinavia and would to your mind be simply 'white'
Person C is from Papua New Guinea and would to your mind be simply 'black'.
Person A and B are more closely related (ie share a more recent common ancestor) than either is to C, and furthermore are more genetically similar to each other than either is to C.
Whilst your classificatory system of 'black, white, Asian, what have you' would mistakenly classify persons A and C in the same group and B in a different group, by any objective criteria it is A and B who are most closely related and (in absolute terms) most similar to each other.

It's all very simple really.

OK. to begin with, please dont get me wrong. Racism is terrible, and there have been outrageous things happen to people because of color, religion etc... but i think all this is starting to get a bit ridiculous. I am in the extended learning program at an Australian High School, and in English, in the past 4 years of high school, we have done shakespeare, poetry and racism. that is it. or at least it feels that way. correction there we have done a book by salman rushdie.
in year 7 (first year high school over here) we did poetry, then Romeo And Juliet. In year 8 we did a book by salman rushdie, then another shakespeare work, then Racism. Year 9 brings an idiot of a teacher, and Snow Falling On Cedars. this book was quite boring but i think that if i had been allowed to read it in my own time, as opposed to being read to by some of my class mates (although we are supposed to be in LEAP, extended learning program, the quality of reading is apalling) i would have found it all right. we also did the Merchant Of Venice. year 10 brings an amazing teacher. oh she is brilliant. but it also brings To Kill A Mockingbird. this book is really good but just seems so boring because of the repetitive nature of all these racism issues.
Also, In SOSE (studies of society and environment, a bundling of History, Geography and just about every other subject you can think of) we have done 1 unit of american history, in which we seemed to do little else but the civil war and black rights movement, 1 unit of Australian history, which was about the same except without the civil war and with a whole lot of stories about the first explorers of Aus. massacring Aboriginal people. also this year we are due to do a unit of, wait for it, RACISM!!!!!
someone please save me from this tedious repetition. its as though our teachers do not communicate, and only teach us what they feel like. for instance i had to research for myself what started famous wars like the Boer war, the war of indipendence and the 1st World war for crying out loud.

In closing, Please, if you feel offended by this post, re-read the starting passage. Racism = BAD.

I suppose some of those animals that Darwin took from their natural habitat might regard him as a bit of a pirate, but otherwise it’s stretching the definition of pirate a bit. It's all about perspective when you're a vole after all.

In terms of racism, I think that every ethnic and tribal group has been a complete bastard in some way to whatever ethnic groups they have come into contact with. What distinguishes one group to another most is if they are better at being bastards to one another than other groups. That's the horrible truth that most people would rather not admit.
