France won... against Wales, which i'm not best pleased about :(. Wales dominated that game and made some excellent tries and great play throughout - the French team just managed to get an unfortunate couple of easy tries off two close lineouts imo. Wales deserved to win that.

but the real point of this thread is to say... anyone see that awesome try against the English in the last 80 seconds of the final game? that was just brilliant!! :D
fuckin' english deserved to lose that one... and so Ireland take away the Triple Crown. yay! at least some celtic blood beats those damn anglo-saxons :p

so, anyone else see any of the games today? opinions? rants? whatever?

Y'know, that reaction does not surprise me. It seems just about every country hates the English to win when it comes to sport. All the refs in the competition that have reffed an English game have been bias the other way, as are the idiotic commentators. The English rugby game has gone downhill since the departure of M Johnson but today I think we out-played the Irish and the ref and we played better than the French last week. Why do u like to see the English lose, just out of curiosity, where does the anti-English hatred come from? No victimisation here, you are not the only 1, why the dislike?

Yeah any1. I would really like to know why the English are so disliked. We aint even that good at sports, it's not like we win every bloody thing.

Don't start going on about political issues to justify your opinions unless you truly believe it has an impact. The French still angry over the wars we have had in the past, for example? I doubt that very much.

well i don't know about the french. but sports brings out great patriotism, and the Irish do feel hard done by by the English in the past. i see both sides as my father is english (although supports Ireland over England i think)

Maybe it is the years of Empirism and, to some degree, previous military domination of many countries, dont know. Weird though, we are talking about sports and individuals playing that have had nothing to do with Englands historical beligerence.

England should ahev won that, poor decision for the 1st Irish try, (Though brilliant skill by Horgan for both. I felt sick when Wales lost as well, they deserved to win.

I actually quite like Ireland, so I didn't mind them beating us, as long as it isn't those arrogant b****ds the Welsh.

Postives for England:
1)Ellis came of age as a Scrum-Half, well palyed to the young man today and I hope he carrys on his good work, quick ball and good defensive work. Made Dawson look like the 98 year old he is.

2) Goodes performance, real quality again. Probably helped by ellis haveing a good game at SH though. Poor kciking but in that wind who can blame him

3) We didn't get stuffed, if theres one team in the 6N that can stuff us it's the irish, and they didn't.

4) Moody-briilliant game there, chansed back brilliantly in the last minuate to stop a certain try and made a try saving tackle (twice) on Horgan. (okay so one of them where allowed...But it shouldn't have been)

Team for SI's:
Sheridan
Chunter
Stevens
Deacon
Borthwick
Moody
Lund
Corry

Ellis

You wehre lcuky with that one, etchincally it was out of play. (Horgans foot was connected to moodys body, which was in touch. thus he is out.) The ref and TJ should get out his rulebook!

some degree?
but anyway, as i said, sport brings out a lot of patriotism, why do England love to beat argentina and germany so much? (at least in football)

patriotism and nationalism comes out at international sporting events like this, for one thing... and being mostly welsh it kinda fits the bill.
though apart from that i find the english team has a real air of arrogance about them, both individual players and the way the team behaves. i don't like that. they also cheated using hands in the scrum during the match today, something which really put me against them, today specifically.

i'm actually always confused as to who to support. i live in england (and have done all my life bar 2 years at cardiff uni), but i have no english blood or ancestry - i'm welsh on my dad's side, and german on my mum's... so my support wavers between supporting the welsh, irish, english or scottis depending on who's playing who (celts gotta support each other, right?)
i'm not usually that anti-english in my sentiment, just they pissed me off in the game tonight.

as for why the english are so universally hated... perhaps it is political, i don't know... but i do sense an air of arrogance and cockyness in a lot of international sporting events we partake in. i don't think anyone likes a smartass - or someone who (or a country that) things they're a smartass.

damn right! that controversial french try should so not have gone through.

IIRC the one where the french guy (forget who... they all sound like french names to me anyway :P) did not have his hands on the ball as it went into touch, and then just bounced on it (and welsh bloke put it in touch straight after)... that was not deliberate... he bounced! his deliberate attempt to put down the ball (with his hands) missed and then he just bounced his torso on it. that's not a try in my book

Meh, Horgan himself wasn't out, so in the Jennifer Rugby Rules I count that as being a perfectly valid try :p
