I'm sure theres already been a thread on this, but I've been away for a while, so I'll start another one. Did anybody see, like, or understand the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony? Anybody get the Collins at 5 or Luenig references? Anybody think Delta Goodrem's singing was remarkably good considering she must have been choking on the smoke? Anybody from America or the majority of Europe and therefore not even know it was happening?

I saw the end of it when the oceania teams came in and the blew some huge amount on fireworks. Nice to see Kiri involved.

Yep, the MCG will do that to you... at least you didn't go to one of the Dress rehearsals. They said not to bring bags or food ordrink for speed through security, and then the only thing we could buy was 3 serves of GODAWFUL sushi with 150ml red wine... for $39.50!!!!!:mad: :mad:

So by that standard, $5 for a pie is great.

Basically its Australia winning every event in pretty much every category, with England or Scotland taking a few here and there. Except athletics actually, we only have a few contenders in the running and jumping events who are any good, the african nations get most of those.

I personnally think that the Commonwealth Games are one big joke that gets tiring very quickly.

I didn't see the whole thing, but apparently Tim Freedman from The Whitlams sung. Is this true?

We're still gonna be in the Commonwealth games even if we become a republic. Most of the completing countries are republics.

I thought that was one of the bad parts about becoming our own republic, ala America we would be out of the games (ok, I know they were never in them, but you get the point).
