i have a floppy disk on which i've saved at least 15 assignments for school. I am wondering how much more space I have in terms of the number of pages of Microsoft Word I can still store onto this floppy disk. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can check yourself.

Find the icon somewhere on your desktop that says "My Computer" and click on it. Look around for something that says "Floppy Drive" and look at the amount of space remaining.

I think that's how it goes, right guys?

A floppy can store exactly 1.45 MB of data, so...

A LOT of MW stuff. I've heard 150.

However, I suggest you get a jump drive. Really convienient.

They can hold 1.44 MB, so figure out how big you MS Word documents are (right click and select properties) and then divide.

when i go onto the floppy drive thing, it just lists my files, it doesn't show me a picture of how much space I've got.

Right-click, go to Properties, and it should say. A sexy little pie graph you'll find!

Actually, it depends on the type of floppy.

8" disks had a capacity up to 1 mb
5 1/4" disks had a capacity up to 1.2mb
3 1/2" disks had a capacity up to 1.44mb

Super-disks were a magneto-optical floppy in a 3 1/2" format, with a capcity of 120mb.

In most cases, somewhat less than a hardie...

Single Density or Double Density?
You should check casette tapes. They're all the rage.

No images, just text ? Then a lot more.

However - just get an USB flash drive. Most new pre-built computers do not even have a floppydrive anymore.
