right.

car crash shattered my left wrist a few years back and that hand is kinda useless (in terms of strength and dexterity; bar the fingers, that is... they're fine). so, definatley right.

I was a righty, but then I broke my right hand. I had to learn to do everything left handed, so I am Ambidextrous. I still tend to prefer the right though.

I use both. I write with my right all the time however. So, some smarty will probably say, "Dude, you idiot, your right handed." Well I'm not. Because I said so. Other than the writing, they both get used equally. My mouth is treated as a third appendage.

Basically ambidextrous.

I generally use the right hand for more things, but there are a few exceptions where I typically use my left hand. In both cases, I randomly end up using the other hand once in a while. And in some cases, I don't have any preference when it comes to which hand I'm using.

I'm generally a bit more clumsy with my left hand for activities where I typically use my right hand, but otherwise I can use it just as well.

I'm curious, being primarily lefthanded myself. What do you do when you spot one, cross to the other side of the street?;) The only right handed action i do is use a fork and my computer mouse.

I've been practicing my right and could potentially near ambidexterity, I am not certain though.

But I am still left-handed.

Hmm... answers converge to the expected values :p about 10% for left handed and ambidex each and about 80% for right handed... just like pig tails.

... it would be 80% if not for the pirates!

I'm ambidextrous. I'm a bit more dextrous with my right hand in certain activities, but that's not many.

I'm working on getting my left hand more dextrous for writing, brushing my teeth, and other similar things (I got quite used to using the mouse with my left hand when I sliced open my right one last year).

Left handed, and like all left handers in the oppressive right handed world I've learned to do certain things right handed or use certian things upside down or backwards.

One day we will rise up against our right handed oppressors. And they know it. You don't think they know? You don't think they're afraid of us? Why do you think they give us those blunt nose scissors in school? They know...we're comin'...

Why? It really isn't that big a deal. You still favor one side or the other when doing things, although it usually is not the same side for everything. I only am because I pretty much grew up not knowing I was left handed combined with the fact that I had a bunch of very old nuns for teachers, with ever vigiliant eyes for evil kids attempting penmanship with their left hand.

I heard that in the olden days, boys used to shun and bully left-handers. Man, people are stupid. Or actually mobs.

The normal brain is right-handed. Left-handers actually have minor brain "damage". (Every time you say the word "brain damage" you should know that in the early stages of its development, the brain is also highly adaptable, and even major damage may have no symptoms at all.) Their behavior is not something that can be chosen, but a direct consequence of their neurology. Also, left-handers are more likely to become creative.

No I didn't is was simply too corny to make note of, yet it is still a common belief that there is some sort of advantage to being able to use either hand which there really is not.

I found it amusing and I would think that it helps to be able to use both hands. In sports like tennis or if you injure one hand you can just switch to the other or just in daily life I would find it helpful.

Proudly Left-handed.
There's something positively wrong about a society if there's left-hander pride. Cut down on the forced conformity if this happens.

I'm a right-hander myself. I once fell down onto my right hand, when it was a cold day and slippery, and I rode a bike downhill straight into a "ice bump". I couldn't write anything but nearly illegible scribbles with my weakened right hand. Seriously, it was like three convolutions per line in a letter "A". The funny thing is, that it was the same with the healthy left hand. I've thought about learning ambidexterity since then...

That's because a lot of people mistakenly think it somehow makes you superior or more talented, so they lie. Stand a few feet from them and toss something (soft) toward their face. You will find the truth very quickly. No one naturally uses both hands equally for any given task. Most people that are ambidextrous tend to favor the left side for more complicated tasks such as writing and throwing (non sissy style). They simply learned to do most things right handed because they grew up watching how a right handed world does things.

People lie for any sort of reason, some for the sake of lying. Feeling superior for someone who has a bit of an insecurity complex is actually one of the more understandable reasons I've come across over the years and I've heard thousands of them.

This a good and worthwhile thread.

The following things would make it perfect:

1. Meaningless comedy option on poll (quasi-relevant pirate-related one much appreciated, thanks! :)).
2. Ability to select all options.

It's not conscious. Unfortunately, the fact is that what you're seeing on the poll results is not the fact, but a theory. People make up, on the spot, a theory of their "handedness", to justify the answer they just want to give, just for vanity.
