Since you're on the inside now, try to find out which oil drum Jimmy Hoffa is in. :)

I am a former Teamster... they do not tell you where they buried Jimmy Hoffa. Though the Mob was certainly represented along with the workers.

I can top that, i'm a union workplace contact, and we are going on strike a week tuesday.

Mind you, the only reason i spend so long in the union office is because Sarah the clerk is such a hottie and seems to think i am lovely...

ahem.

Well, when the NUS go on strike, that means they stop doing what they do normally...

So they have a shower, stop reciting Little Britain sketches at the bar, and go get a fucking job :)

(only joking, just jealousy, miss my wasted three years of studentdom *sigh*)

If you haven't already, take a look at my union's demands. We only ask simple littel things like the company follow the labor law.

I joined when I did because the Labor Standards Office recently ruled that even Gaijin are entitled to overtime pay and the legally mandated pension/insurace plan. That's the bit that might have surprised some folks. (Several months ago the union's pushing of that same pension/insurance plan was making me fret something serious - to the degree of considering leaving the country because of it. Once the labor lawyer assured me that I wouldn't have to pay 15 years back payments, and I'd be getting at least 2 years worth of unpaid overtime to boot, I couldn't argue.)

All that being said, the first person who comes around singing about Joe Hill is getting knee-capped with my bokuto. (That's a heavy wooden Japanese practice sword - think baseball bat, but designed to hit people, not baseballs - and I know how to use it on people! Other stupid union folky type songs will be dispossed of on a case by case basis.)

You do realise you are now on a government hit list as a corporate workplace stalinist terrorist :p

I'm only a sixth former so I haven't stopped showering yet, I've got that to look forward to. :p

Well, it's not the IWW, but it's better than nothing. Welcome to the dark side!

(Long live Joe Hill! :))

The union I belong to here in the UK is the RMT (Rail Maritime and Transport Workers Union), which is run by one of the most left wing people you would ever meet, a certain Mr Bob Crowe.

(Sorry, but I absolutely hate that song.)Yes, I'd have to say Joe Hill wrote better songs than the people who wrote songs comemmorating him.

I love being the non-standard ideological bolt. Plus, practicality trumps ideology.

Wait, what?
How could you be proud of that? It's not exceptionally difficult.
