Dear Congress: Bipartisan does not mean BLINDPartisan

So Congress is all about showing a little spunk these days right? Stood up to the head cheese on ports. Making a few noises here and there. And now looking to cast a critical eye on the current Iraq policy with the formation of a bipartisan panel to study the matters at hand.

I must say, Congress has a very interesting definition of bipartisan. Very interesting indeed.

Let's take a look shall we?

So, who do you get to head it up in an independant manner?

Jimbo Baker!

You know, the legal council for the Carlise group? The guy who's ties to the Bush family go all the way back to his stint as Senior's senate campaign manager in 1970? Through their tenures together in the CIA, their time together in office all the way up to his job as GW's chief legal advisor in the 2000 campaign and during the Florida recount?

Oh yes.... now there's an objective man on this matter!

His co-leader? Lee Hamilton, who already has proved his mettle at the fine art of rolling over and playing dead when it comes to final editing as we saw in the 911 Senate Intelligence report. Now when is that followup report due again?

Who else?

Robert Gates, another old CIA buddy of GW senior - indeed nominated as Director by Senior. Since leaving government, serving as Dean of the Bush School of Government, and a director of Parker Drilling. Gee, a texas oilman and chief spook. Nahhhhhh, he couldn't possibly be biased either could he?

Bill Perry? Somewhat middle of the road, but also the pioneer of the policy of preemption - except that he called it "preventive defence" in his day. PNAC's ideological godfather in matters of defence policy.

Former republican whip Al Simpson? Hey? Didn't have GW AND Cheney there celebrating his fundraising for his "Campaign for Distinction?"

Hmmm...

Chuck Robb? One of the few Dems to support Gulf War I AND the appointment of Clarence Thomas, and married into Texas politics.

And, of course, Rudy Giuliani. Active campaigner and chief sycophant for GW, most remembered during the last election cycle for blaming the troops for deficiencies in safeguarding explosives and for failing to find the WMD. George's closest thing to a metaphorical Lewinski.

Anyone else on the panel?

Leon Panetta and a 10th member still to be identified.

but I'm sure that 10th guy will balance it all out right?

right?

Yeah...... riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
