That's pretty obvious if we know Swedish. :p

Aside from the ABBA and the alcoholism, it sounds like it'd be pretty good.

I like "I am curious (Yellow)"

What a strange movie.

But ABBA are fantastic! Surely, their soundtrack is the cherry on the top of the cake whipped cream that just adds that little extra.. Flavour.

I've seen that movie years ago when I was still in Germany, and I simply loved it. It reminded me so much about the way I grew up myself :D

You grew up in a hippy commune?

Cabra, I think it's story time.

and note: the ABBA is perfect (though normaly I wouldn't [admit to] abide)

Yes well, sometimes they make weird translations of titles that don't make sense at all. Though I suppose this one is quite simple.

I might watch it if it wasn't for ABBA.

Not quite AS extreme, my family itself (mother, father, brothers) was fairly average. But whenever we were on vacations, we would get together with the extended family (mother's brother and kids, father's 4 brothers and wives and kids, father's sister and husband and kids), and other friends and their kids. And most of them would live in communes like that, so we would always be a bit like the two "normal kids" faced with the "hippie kids" in the movie.
It was fun until I grew old enough for all the adults to expect me to watch the kids all day (me being the oldest girl in the group).

Cabra, that sounds like a great experience (other than looking after kids). Were they all called River and Carl and such?

Figures, he's one of the biggest swedish directors, never really liked him though.

No... names like that never caught on in Germany and Austria. They did have some pretty unusual names for the time, though, especially the boys. Lorenz, Killian, Alfred-Otto...

I think "fucking amal" is from the same director and that's also really good.
another excellent swedish movie is "jalla jalla".

I really liked that film. Its tagline "Hellre äta gröt tillsammans än oxfilé ensam" ("Rather eat porridge together than filet mignon alone") is classic.

I also liked Lucas Moodysson's "Fucking Åmål" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0150662/) ("Show me love" in English), a love story between two teenage girls, and "Lilja 4 Ever" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0300140/), the story of a girl victim of trafficking somewhere in East Europe. The last one is gruesome, but, oh, so good.

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music’s high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

You’re a teaser, you turn ’em on
Leave them burning and then you’re gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

Sadly, I am. And I say sadly because I get stared at by *both* sexes when I'm out in public (guys stare at me because they think I'm a girl until they get close enough to see my facial hair). Worst of all, I get screamed at when I'm on my bike.

Heh, just last week when I was out riding my bike, a car was coming my way. I pulled to the side of the road to make room, and the driver stopped about thirty feet before the stop sign; her and the passenger had to stare. Awkward, to say the least.

But hey, at least my name isn't Rainbow. :p

In fact, I recently strung the raquette of a fellow named Rainbow at the club. So it can happen.
