My friend is moving to Oregon and I wanted to make her a CD as a going-away present. I wanted to end it with a few good "good=bye" songs. Can anybody recommend me some?

Edit: I've already got "Come Back to Texas" so that one's out.

Stay (Don't Just Stay) Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Just listen to it before anyone gives me crap about liking that band.

True Dreams of Wichita or Janine by Soul Coughing.

In My Life - Doesn't matter who does it really, it's almost impossible to fuck up that song. I'm listening to the Johnny Cash version right now.

That's all I can find off the iTunes, I'm not going to look through my CDs and for some reason I don't feel like racking my brain...

Barstool Prophets - Sunshine So Fine (more of an "I'm leaving" than "your'e leaving", but still very nice)
Ennio Morricone - L'Arena (The end music from Kill Bill)
Moby - Porcelain (for the really sad goodbyes)
Annie Lennox - Into the West (from Return of the King)
Neil Young - Long May You Run (actually about a truck, but who cares)

and

H2G2 Soundtrack - So Long and Thanks for All the Fish (because hey, you can't end on a downer)

This is probably my favorite "goodbye song" Download it and give it a listen - it really grows on you.

Devendra Banhart - At the Hop

Put me in your suitcase, let me help you pack
Cuz you're never coming back, no you're never coming back

Cook me in your breakfast and put me on your plate
Cuz you know I taste great, yeah you know I taste great

At the hop it's greaseball heaven
With candypants and archie too

Put me in your dry dreams or put me in your wet
If you haven't yet, no if you haven't yet
Light me with your candle and watch the flames grow high
No it doesn't have to try, it doesn't have to try

Well I won't stop all of my pretending that you'll come home
You'll be coming home, someday soon

Put me in your blue skies or put me in your gray
There's gotta be someway, there's gotta be someway
Put me in your tongue tie, make it hard to say
That you ain't gonna stay, that you ain't gonna stay

Wrap me in your marrow, stuff me in your bones
Sing a mending moan, A song to bring you home

That's not a bad song Gartref, as his songs go. My problem with Devandra is his goddam warbly voice. It's so bloody annoying.

I have one that comes to mind...but the lyrical content is probably not appropriate in this instance. Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop by Kyuss.
