De-veggie-ing
I've been a vegetarian for 6 years and I'm kinda considering going back to meat in a reduced manner.
Any suggestions on how to do this without becoming sick?

My friend went cold turkey so to speak. He just went out and got a burger one day. Said he was drooling between bites it was so good.
But I dunno Dak....good luck and hope you dont get sick.
Go for something with quality. Starting with McDonalds would not be smart. :p

stay a vegetarian! :p
no, just eat like small piece, once a week, and gradually include more and more meat in more and more meals. more and more annoying, right? :D

As I understand it, the best way is to do it slowly. Have a tiny bit of meat at a time, just to get your body readjusted to digesting it.
You might also ask your doctor what she thinks.

Maybe start with things that are meat-flavoured? Like chicken instant noodles or those kind of things just to get used to the taste. Donno...
I wouldn't be planning on eating much meat if I do go back (I'm still not entirely sure I want to, but it's something I've been thinking about more and more lately) I would probably just go to eating it every once in a while, perhaps once or twice a week. It's more expensive than veggies so I won't overdo it.

I already eat some things that are meat-flavoured (soy "meats") on occasion... Mr Noodles are not my cup of tea.

The real way to get yourself back on meat would be to try one of my burgers, but I don't think that would work. Try meat flavored ramen.

Well, perhaps chicken?
Well, perhaps chicken?
That's mostly what I've been craving anyways.
Chicken wings. mmm... with suicide sauce...
I just don't want to eat it and then get horribly ill afterwards.

Screw that: stay vegetarian.

It's his/her choice!
But yeah, go right ahead and eat chicken then! If you get badly ill, don't worry. Try again, then again, until you can tolerate it.
I was kinda wondering if anyone had done this process before and would offer some advice on how to go about it with the least amount of side effects.
I'm not even sure I'll like meat anymore...

Not suprising, I doubt the taste has been stored for six years for no paticular reason.

Try some breaded chicken strips first then, and work up to the spicy stuff, which could make you sick after so long just by the spicines of it.
But yeah, eventually get back to those hot wings. It's not really a meal unless your nose runs.

Well, I ate meat for the first 16 years of my life. Well, except the first two or so when I wasn't eating solids...

I eat spicy food all the time anyways (spiciness isn't directly meat related, afterall...) and I agree, that good old sinus clearning, lips on fire feeling after a meal is the greatest.

Start with a nice juicy steak. Mmmm. Apart from it being reaaally tasty, beef is less likely to make you ill than pork or chicken, hence why you can (and should) eat it rare.
Bearnaise sauce, with some chips (fries) and salad. Damn, I'm hungry...

Two things you can do:
#1, Fast for a bit, then eat some fire-cooked meat. Anything will do, but I suggest a roast cooked over a pit of coals.
#2, wait until winter, then do the same thing.
The object is to get your cyclicaly omnivorous body in tune with the seasons. Humans evolved to eat plant material in the growing season and Meat in the winter. Alternatively, Meat was the only source of nutrition in times of (human edible) plant die-off (famine). Google "Paeleolithic Diet". It's how we are created/evolved to eat. (the last 15,000 years notwithstanding)

Well, sure, I ate sweet potato for the first 10, non-solid time included, that's just four years ago, and I can't recall the taste at all...
You should start out slow by just licking live animals.

I was a vegan for like 6 years and started craving meat and dairy when I got pregnant, my doctor was able to prescribe a drug that helped me not to puke.
DISCLAIMER : Although I have first hand experience with this, it's not medical advice of any kind.

Can this suggestion be extended to umm, cannibalism? Yeah...

I'd start with some well-cooked fish, and if you can handle that, maybe some cold chicken or something. Your peptidases probably aren't up to snuff, so do it gradually. As for flavour, just whatever you like, and you should cook your meat through in the begining.

First of all, welcome back to the delicious side of the force.
Start small if you're sure you'll get sick from re-introducing meat, and start with higher quality meat. None of that Burger King or MacDonald's crap. Beyond that though there's not much you can do. Eat it, work through it and you'll be an omnivore again in no time.
Go and buy some deli meat, then make some sandwhiches. It tastes pretty good (does depend on what you have to go with it) and tends to have a very little amount of meat in it (compared to eating a peice of chicken).
