well this place is huge with so much traffic there has to be some people who just get lost in the mist. i kinda feel it sometimes, that i make an input, but no one quotes me or comments or the like. but i was just wondeering if anyone felt lost or ignored and why.

Yeah, usually the feeling is "overwhelmed", especially when I enter into a debate and then have to leave to go to bed. By the time I'm back, the debate has progressed through 10+ pages of material...

Well, it's really hard to get attention between post count of extremely low and pretty high.....the middle ground is a bitch. To be truthful, it's better off if maybe you're not getting a lot of attention right now....I mean, at least you're not a troll or a flamer, and you're not incredibly whiney.

Besides, I'm on maybe a few days a week, and there are people I've been interacting with since....just about the beginning of my time here whose names I often forget, yet I recognized yours. No idea what from, but there you have it.

Just because people don't quote you or comment directly to you doesn't mean you're being ignored....it usually just means they're too caught up in some other point of the discussion to catch your comment.

It kind of depends on the lengths you go through to make a point of some kind, i guess. Or how striking your language/style is. Sometimes both.
I don't often feel ignored, but that's because i'm often a confrontational arsehole about things that just aren't right/accurate. I also chime in on things for news references or some other twisted angle that i didn't think got addressed yet.
People will notice, but you can't expect everyone to say something about it. It is a jungle, oh well. There's a lot of different animals and species in a jungle, some deadlier and sneakier than others. *shrug*

When I first joined, with my first nation, I was completely ignored. When I came back with my second nation, I was completely ignored. The same followed for my 3rd and 4th nation, although I never really played any of those, or talked enough on any of those, that I had any reason not to be ignored.

Although, with Valori, while I was first ignored, the longer I'm around the longer I seem to be noticed. Then again, I'm in no rush to have every John, Dick, and Jane jumping on me everytime I post.

I batter mine in like pancake batter about the consistency of corn dog batter and then pop them into the deep fat fryer. :D it's not on my everyday diet though.

The grease needs to be really really hot so you can almost flash fry them or you will melt the candy bar (and that's never fun). It works best with what I call the "chunky bars" like snickers, and stuff, not so much with the flat ones like Mr. Goodbar.

Ok, I have a friend who works at a fish & chips bar here in Brooklyn and I helped out in the kitchen a few shifts and they have fried sweets. I'm talkin about mars bars(the british kind w/out the almonds), twix, snickers, reeses peanut butter cups, twinkies, hohos, the works. Strangest thing I'd heard of(and I'm from the south where they fry everything.) Anyways they use the same batter that they use for the fish: dip in flour, dip in batter, repeat. Then drop into the frier, slowly. Pull them up when their golden brown(about 2 min.) plop em on a plate and dust with powdered sugar. To die for.

Never chatted, i guess. Also, i didn't read/inculcate enough of his posts.

As per the spoon:

I was at one point into talismen, or at least charmed items from certain people ... and i had a collection of a few on a string/chain, something like that.
Anyway, this guy nick'd "Splunge" tossed me a bent spoon after a prolonged discussion about *something*, and people (including him, later) inferred it had to do with freebasing and some sort of correlated spiritual pursuit. So i wore it around my neck, and i was in a restaurant talking to a "Punjab the Sane"'s sister, who asked about the collage. I said something or other and she goes, "so would you wear anything if it was from a friend, from someone you cared for, if it was charmed?", and i replied yeah, or at least, quite probably.
So then she says, "even a horse vibrator"?
And, true to form, i stuck with it. The "good" news is that she never ante'd up, she only talked about it to everyone. Ah, yet ANOTHER great anecdote.

Sometimes you will encounter elements of snobbishness and cliqueness on the Nation States Forums, towards people who don’t have thousands of posts and don’t practically live here. Whenever you gather with large groups of people into a purely social setting this sort of thing is always going to happen to a certain extent. Some of it is probably even unintentional. As players get used to one another they pay more attention to the posts of players they have come to know better than those they don’t. It’s one of the reasons why there are so many offsite private regional forums thriving out there (take Wysteria for example).

so...I was dating this girl, and she enjoyed pleasuring herself (I was out of state. No comments about my inability to satisfy her;) ) Anyway, this one time, she wanted to do it in the shower, and had already broken her vibrator in there...so she wanted something that wouldn't break, and was shaped properly. So she grabbed a turkey baster. She did what needed to be done, and put it back without really washing it. So maybe a week later, we're at thanksgiving dinner with her family, and they bring out the turkey, and start to use the same baster to finish it off...me and her are trying not to laugh (I have scars from her nails in my arm). So we calm ourselves down, both pass on the turkey, and all is fine untill her grandmother says "This turkey tastes great! Did you add something new to the bastings?" I fall out of my chair, and she runs out of the room laughing. They never did figure out what got into us that night...haha

So my mum-in-law has been on/off with this LOSER for 7 + years, and at one point for a holiday dinner, we go over to her place, where he's helped make (of all things, the turkey) - and my wife is talking about how she feels and diet and that kind of jazz, and i'm sitting there reading the paper, as is my usual fashion, where he starts in about ways to "cleanse" your system. Well, the guy's a drunk, and perplexingly enough preferred that to his prior "business" of being a vitamin fencer, so i figured he wouldn't have good advice here. Also, people bring up the whole "how much undigested meat stuck in yer colon" angle often, and for some reason, i smelled that one coming. So, contrary to my usual interest, i suddenly dvp'd one in the sports page, and slowly lift it to obscure my face from his view, maintaining composure as long as i can. Then he lets it out, and i attribute my shaking of the paper to too much coffee earlier in the day. And then ... THEN, he says "don't think i'm weird or anything". And he belabours the details of liquefying/pureeing the turkey/rhubarb concoction, with details on temperature, application, frequency, and amount in ounces. I don't remember anything else about that night except my fondness for deviled eggs.
So what're your family gatherings like?

Both Equus and I have sunk a lot of effort into developing Wysteria as a region.I’ve been very careful to recruit towards generations of nations growing together, with the region slowly growing at a manageable rate. I’ve actually done very little recruiting in the last year to keep the region from growing too large and impersonal. Equus has spent many hours both creating and doing upkeep on our Map.

http://wysteria.diamondq.com/Wysteria/wysteria_region.htm

We started our forum during the pre-Jolt days when the NS Forum was a bit of a disaster and used to take forever to make a successful post. I think a lot of forums started because of that. It’s also nice to have a place to RP and chat OOC within the region. It helps build a sense of community.

haha...man, something tells me we could fill a whole thread with our family stories. I'll have to remember some good stories.
Actually, something tells me this is yet another thread I'll have to consider making...the anecdote thread...muahaha

haha...I honestly was expecting your name to be like, Jerry or something. I dont know why.

Anyway, it is kinda hard to break into the circles. I think PM was the first person I ever really talked to in a thread, and then in TG's (Honky is still the only person from NS whom I've talked to on an instant message program). But I think a decent number of people atleast recognize me, and I will dabble in the more serious threads when I have the time and effort to argue effectively. Once you start to break in, it gets much easier to post here.

It just takes persistance. And you'd actually be surprised at how many people remember and recognise you, even after only about 100 posts. It's not like you come on here one day and everybody queues up to say "hi", but hey, make a thread about a personal problems and you'll realise that they do know you and do care.

Christ! Are you people still in here? We figured that if we ignored you long enough you'd take the hint!

But seriously, At least 60 percent of my posts get no response at all. Of the remaining 40 percent, at least 80 percent of the response is "WTF? are you some kind of retard?"

I post primarily to entertain myself. If, occasionally, I say something that amuses someone else - that's like collateral damage.

no...I mean my ex.

Okay kiddies, story time *takes swig of Cutty Sark*
so...I was dating this girl, and she enjoyed pleasuring herself (I was out of state.

I think what you meant was they never did figure out what got into "HER" that night.

Anyhow-thats totally irresponsible use of a turkey baster.

creative? Fashioning a device from things around the house would be creative- not just grabbing any old oblong item that rough size.

The irresponsible part is where it wasnt thrown out or vigorously washed afterwards. Reasonable care wasnt excercised and as a result, we now have a grandma thats acquired a taste for quim.

Lucky it didnt go in the back door, I guess.

Regarding the OP:

Well of course, I've been here for three years (almost four) and most posts one makes go unquoted. Unless of course you're an NS celebrity like Melkor, Eut, etc. But NS isn't made up entirely of these posting stars, it's mostly your average poster joe like me and you. We are a majority of the posts whether they be witty or retarded. Either way don't feel bad, it's like real life high school. Everyone wants to be the most popular.

I tend to be recognised and ignored in what seems like waves. There are certainly posters who know me - I've been around long enough. And there are times when my personal threads attract comment. But then there are times when I feel totally ignored. A good example is a couple of threads I posted back in December. The first was a request for some very serious advice on dealing with a friend who was going through a rough time. That got lots of responses. But about two days later, I posted that I was going on vacation, and it got only one reply saying that the poster didn't know who I was (surprising, since I knew the poster). :(
