Fun with Dick and Jane 6/10

I went to see it at the 50 cent movies, I figure it scores as high as it does because Jim Carrey didn't annoy me as much as usual, but I had to take off some points because the last 45 minutes sucked big time. It seemed like there was about 30 minutes of movie missing inbetween the middle and the end that would have tied everything together a little better.

I don't think that particular area has grown much since 16. I'm not saying I think little tits are ugly. I'm rather fond of all shapes and sizes...it's just that they were shockingly pale in relation to the rest of her skin tone, and she was in an unflattering position when they were exposed. I object to the fact that I didn't get a nice, flattering view is all.

Dave Chappelle's Block Party, I don't know...7 out of 10 I guess, I've never liked those kinds of rating systems. It was a party with a point that didn't bog itself down with the message too much. A little disjointed in the orginazition of the narrative. Could have been put together with a little bit of a better arc, but overall I enjoyed it even with one of the speakers blowing.

Before that it was World's Fastest Indian, which I liked. It wasn't a spectacular movie, actually struck me as very New Zealand in nature (not that I have an authoritative grasp of New Zealand cinema-just that film school survey kind of understandings...)

Tomorrow I'm going to watch V for Vendetta, maybe because I hate myself, I don't know.

I'm not a fan by any stretch, but this movie lacked something the earlier Potter films had. I just didn't feel like much of anything had happened, aside from the "big revelation" at the end.

Ah, can't remember the exact title (saw it 2 weeks ago). I believe it was called "Eye of the Needle"

It was a movie made around the 60's...

Centered around WW2, where a German spy is in England, doing what German spies do best...spying. And he, upon his mission to deliver information to Hitler personally, is washed up upon Stone Island, off the coast of England (or Scotland). So he mingles with the family and nothing but bad stuff happens as a result while the British are tracking him down due to their fears that he discovered the plans for D-Day.

It was a simple movie, but I can appreciate it.

Three of my favorite quotations from it:

"Just what this country needs. A cock in a frock on a rock."

"Why don't you just light your tampon, blow your box apart? Because it's the only bang you're ever gonna get, sweetheart! "

"There's two things I don't like about you. Your face. Now shut both of them"

Tick: Doesn't give us much to talk about then, does it?

Ultraviolet. 4/10.

I expected something stupid, but pretty looking, with Milla Jovovich running around shooting/stabbing random people to death while in a midriff revealing outfit. That's pretty much what I got, only with shitty looking CGI, some obvious budget cutting measures, and some random kid that wasn't in the trailers.

If they'd been willing to spend enough money to make the CGI better, and film all of the fight scenes, I'd say that Ultraviolet was a good watch while you're tired/drunk, but as is, it's only wasted potential. Well, B-movie potential.

I'm told some fans of the comic book are a little upset, but I never read it, and taken seperately, I found the movie to be thoroughly entertaining, and well worth my $7.

Although, a small smiley notation is in order...

 i love that movie! its utterly indicative of my childhood as every summer holiday, as far back as i can remember, i'd make a point of watching that at least once :)

sadly the new disney-dubbed (Hamill) version is not as well dubbed as the original british dub from 86 imho. they changed all the music, too, and the original just felt far less 'cartoon-y' and more grown-up (actual anime rather than disney) than this new version. i got the dvd and was disappointed. still great though!

I hadn't heard of it until about 6 weeks ago, then my girlfriend randomly told me she'd loved it when she was a kid, and she'd had it on video taped off the tv, but she'd lost the tape. As it was her birthday coming up, I had a look online and found it on DVD. When I gave it to her she was almost happier than I'd ever seen her.

Funny this thread showed up, just watched a crap load of movies in the last day or so.

Top Gun - everytime I watch it gets worse, which is unfortunate. 6.5/10 on this last outing
Gladiator - didn't even really watch, just made out with my GF....so 10/10 seems right
Catch Me if You Can - interesting, no :fluffle: in this one though, her dad was there so 7/10
Secondhand Lions - only watched it because she hadn't, this sorta just turned into another 10/10.

Space Nuts. 1/10.

My entire review of it can be found at the Pornosseuse Report (http://pornosseuse.livejournal.com) (not work safe).

It was really awful. But hey, it was featured in The 40 Year Old Virgin, so I kinda had to check it out.

*thinks*

True Lies, was on a couple of months ago here, so it might have been that. Or maybe it was 'The Man Who Copied', a nice Brazilian film.

True Lies: 9/10 (I've seen it roughly one billoin times now)

The Man Who Copied: 9/10

Just curious, just post it and give it a rating out of 10. It doesn't matter whether you saw it at home or at a cinema just post! ;) At home: Men in Black II
Meh, it gets a 7/10 only because it was in German and I'll give the English version the benefit of the doubt.

Cinema: V for Vendetta
Gets an 8/10, because although it was rather slow to begin with, things picked up near the end.

Wait...you paid money to go see this in a cinema?
Surely the posters/trailers/fact it's got Ant and Dec in it would be enough to put you off?

Don't think I've actually seen a film since the last time I posted in this thread...actually, no, I saw most of Fight Club when it was on tv last weekend. Very good film, 8/10.

Going to see a triple bill of Park Chan-Wook's revenge trilogy in a couple of weeks - Sympathy for Mr Vengeance; Oldboy; Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Back to back. 6 hours of Korean psychological gore-fest cinema. Excellent...

Last film in a theatre- I took my boys to see the newest "King Kong". We thought it was great.
The last film I rented was "The Chronicles of Narnia"- the kids loved it and it didnt put me to sleep.

Thank you for smoking: Really good. 9/10.
I can't remember if I already said "Caché". Didn't get it. That means it's good. Nevertheless I'm going to give it only 8/10 for making me feel stupid.

Benchwarmers: 9 out of 10.

It was hysterical, and a lot better than I thought it would be. That's probably because I hated Napolean Dynamite though. Oh well.

i saw lucky number slevin last night...i give it an 8/10 it was not at all what i was expecting. confusing in the beginning, but it all comes together in the end

before lucky number slevin, i saw v for vendetta and i have no idea why you guys are giving it such low rankings. definitely one of the best movies i've seen in a long time. i definitely like the whole big brother ideal behind it. i give it a 10/10

A History Of Violence

I liked it. My ex-girlfriend hated it.

If you're someone who enjoys good action-violence (interpersonal hand-to-hand combat) and sex sequences, then this is a movie for you.

The Ex:
"If I thought it'd be a porn movie, I'd have rented one on Dickerson Road." (after the 69 scene)

Ohhh...great movie. Have you seen the sequel 'Manon des source"? As good as the first one.

For me, last movie:
Meet the Feebles.
10/10 for gross humour.

I tend not to watch a lot of films, as most of the stuff you see advertised is the same old trite rubbish. However, the last one I saw in the cinema was Capote which was worth 7 or 8 out of 10...much better than your average flick.

amityville horror 0/10, abysmal and unintentionally humourous. On a related note, I cant wait to see hostel! If its anywhere near as good as cabin fever it should be great.

Aye, well worth seeing, since its main storyline deals with something vaguely meaningful rather than some dull ****'s love life, or whatever normally comes out of Hollywood these days.
