For those that don't have a life either
When nothing seems to be happening in General, I usually jump off to other sites that get updated on a regular or irregular basis. Once I've gone through all of those, and there's still nothing going on, I occasionally skim through the racist regions, looking for rule violations and laughing at the ideological tripe on their regional message boards and the misspelled German they use for their mottos.
What do you do when there aren't any discussions that appeal to you going on in NationStates?

Then I use my "Real Life" ability that I got yesterday when I leveled up to 2000 posts. I've been getting crazy exp. ever since.

I always have the radio on, which is a good distraction. I just randomly browse the web looking for something interesting, play games and wait for my girlfriend to finish work.
Unemployment is so boring. :(

Unemployment is so boring.
This might come off wrong, but I hope while your browsing the web I hope your job searching as well.

I usually leave the computer to indulge in one of my hobbies. I suggest you do the same.

Of course. I have no desire to be unemployed longer than I have to be.
I usually leave the computer to indulge in one of my hobbies. I suggest you do the same.I would, if I wasn't "working" right now. Sadly, I've run out of things to do, since the documents we ordered for me to work on a week ago haven't arrived yet, and all I can do is sit around in my office and stare at my computer screen or out of the window.

I'm a freelancer, so I'm supposed to be looking for a job. So I do the cycle every once in a while to look for work. If something still isn't grabbing me then I check on things like The Onion of friends sites. If still nothing I look for Manx-style dune buggies on eBay because one of these days...then maybe go to traderonline to look at cars I can't afford (like that beautiful black 1959 Ferrari 250 GTE for like $90 grand they have...even if I had that much money, but I like looking anyway...)
Still nothing I'll entertain a whim by looking for items for sale, favorites include:
Player pianos or other automated instruments
Animatronics (I will, one day, have a Chucky Cheese band that plays just for me...)
Table top arcade games (sometimes called cocktail games)
Coin operated fortune tellers
Fun house/haunted house/carnival rides
ambulances/hearses
military motorcycles (can't explain that one, I'm not a big military guy)
16mm projectors/films
nickelodeons
etc.
Or just listen to streaming Old Time Radio...

Unemployment is so boring. :(
Is isn't it? Loads of free time, no money to do anything!
And when you finally get a job, you have loads of money but no free time to spend it; that's all used being bored at work. Can't win! :D
When there's nothing happening here (or in my other idle distractions on the interwebs or rattling around inside my brain) I do work.

This has to be the longest I've spent on the forums ever. I'm off work with a fractured cheek bone, but when not surfing, I generally have music playing in the background to keep me occupied. Going through my Smiths albums at the moment.
I ride my ATV, or go skateboarding, or go to my campus, or go to the movie, or go get food, or get dressed nice and go out, or play video games, or stay in a watch a movie with a friend, or go to a friends house... The list goes on.

I spend way too much time on the computer these days. Having over a month off, after tearing tendons in my heel, sucks. I used to play sports all the time, but now I’m sentenced to life as a couch potato until I heal properly. I’m just glad this didn’t happen during the summer. No dancing, no cycling, no sports, no walking around too much. What I’m getting is lots of compy time, too much TV, and a bit of reading. I’m getting back to doing some writing I’d putt on the shelf years ago, but as much as I’m enjoying writing I just want to get back to work, sports, and going out more. Hermit mode is nice from time to time, but it’s not something I’m ready to do full time. I’m just glad I have a great roommate to spend some time with (Equus).
