Here's the scencerio. There's been a complete system wipe out. No elecritcity, no computers, no modern technology. To get an idea of what it's like think back to "The Little House on The Prarie" However, you have some time before the complete system crash, what 5 things would you take or save?

For me:
1. Guns with lots of bullets
2. Axe
3. matches
4. Cows
5. complete tool kit including metal shaping tools.

4. Water purifier pump
5. A few buckets of paint

That's mobility, offense/defence, sustenance and communication.

Hypodronics kit.

No, seriously. Cannabis seeds are amongst the most nutritious food known to man. Hemp can be used to build houses, make clothes and generate electricity. Also, there's the obvious recreational use.

1Machining equipment (drill, scrap metal, ect)
2As many how to books as possible, focusing on agricultural techniques, machining techniques, and edible plants that type of things (this would probably qualify as more than one)
3Seeds
4Magnetic rod, pretty sure I remember enough from shop to jury rig a generator so long as I had this and my fifth item)
5Large coil copper wire.

If number two counts as to many I would take books on
1 Primitive agriculture techniques
2 Primitive tool making
3 Wildernes Survival guide detailing edible plants and such in the wild
4 A book summerizing useful chemical and scientific principles, i.e. gun powder is made this way, conmining these metals makes this.
My remaining option would be
5 seeds

edit this assumes of course that I'm in the wilderness, if I'm at my current location I would want a reliable means of transportation to get me and some others, groups would be safer, out of town as my number one. Weapons for me and my companions as a number two. MREs for the trip out as three. Tools for once we are out as four and seeds as five.

3. My survival library ( about ten volumes ) and my library on how things work ( basic toolmaking, metallurgy, weapon-making, etc.; about ten volumes )

4. A set of basic tools ( hammer, ax, shovel, etc. )

5. A complete set of USGS topographic maps of North America

2. An internet router.

Wouldn't that be completely useless, since there'd be no-one to connect to?

No, I'm far too Irish to be Oceandrive. Besides, I'm a puppet of Hotrodia.

Just joking. I've never met the person I'd pin that tag on.

1. Toolbox
2. Scooter (I'm not so good on a bike)
3. Water purifier
4. PSP (and its associated accessories)
5. Some generator thing... with a power point... that can make power... from dirt. :P

Building tools/weapons, mobility, source of fluid, ability to wash oneself and clothes, entertainment.

I wouldn't bring anything finite, like a brewer's kit. There'll only be enough yeast for so long.

Isn't it sort of cheating if you say "assorted..."?

Nothing. I'd run around naked like an idiot proclaiming the end of the world. Why not?

LOTS of paper and pens. Those are the most important things for me if this is like a long term thing.

DVD and CD Collection (you never know when you might need some decorative coasters) :)

My bike, assume all of the shiny accessories and tools (a post-Apocalyptic world without cycling would be a bit of a drag)

My gortex bivouac slipcovered, sleeping bag. (no reason to be uncomfortable at the end of the world)

My compass (it’s a Silva Ranger compass, plus I need something to use as a shaving mirror)

My Vancouver Canucks drinking stein. What can I say I really like a good mug.
