This is slightly connected to NS, but not even 10%. The connection is a factbook im making and need this for a section.

How it fits into general? It wont fit anywhere else, and I am genuinely also interested.

So, the topic:

I want to know what you think are todays major issues in todays western society (or even eastern perhaps), such as abortion, capital punishment or extradition. Also, your views on each thing may prove interesting.

I think in order of importance the issues are:

1. Energy
2. Energy
3. Energy
and
4. Energy

In a couple years, people won't care about anything esle...

...except maybe food and water...

Terrorism (which should not be on this list)
Pollution (which is mostly used for political gain without adressing the issues themselves)
Resources (we need more)
Religion (as it has been for the last few 1000 years)
Freedom [tm]
Security[tm]
Survival[tm].. no, scratch that. While it is important, countries do not seem to make it a priority.

Whiners
Activists
Crime
Immorality

Funny how they're all linked to each other. Whiners become activists, activists look the other way when a "downtrodden soul" commits a crime, said souls become immoral.

...except maybe food and water...Almost, but not quite. Resource scarcity is the number 1 priority. Currently energy and water are becoming the most scarce. If water becomes so scarce then food will follow suit (I think I might be making myself pro CAP ). I know in the UK gas prices have risen by over 50% in the last 3 years. A gas balancing alert has been issued by the national grid and wholesale prices have increased fourfold. Despite the UK being an overall gas exporter wholesale prices are now triple what they are on continental Europe. Couple that with the scare that Russia and the Ukraine caused a while back, and you'll find resource scarcity is quickly coming to the top of people's lists.

This being NS General, anything you see on the front page is probably not one of "Today's Issues."

Oh, and energy.

Yeah, that's what I said.

Energy = natural gas, oil, coal, nuclear, etc...
Water = Stuff that is delivered to most people using energy...
