I recently heard a summary of a book written by a black Libertain called Ten Things You Can't Say in America. Number 1 was "Blacks are more racsist then Whites." Considering the author was black, I therefore thought the statement maybe had at least some credit to it.

What do you think?

Hmmm...depends on what you call racist. I'd say 80% of white people have the "poor poor minorities, they're so much worse off than us" attitude, which in itself is incredibly racist. If you just mean all-out hatred toward other races, I'd say middle easterners.

I said blacks because most think others are racist to them so in return, they are. But lets face it, those Arabs are just pissed off player haters with missile launchers and matches.

I find all the groups mentioned to be equally promotional of their own paticular race, which in my opinion is not a bad thing. I find the term racist as nothing more than a politicial tool that has no useful purpose other than to create divisions among people. I believe it to be a governmentally promoted insturment that distracts the population, and prevents it from identifying their true source of pain....Government and Politicial oppourtunists.

Can you believe it?) named Jim Henson or something like that, and now the hateful little overstuffed sock puppets are demonstrating and setting fires to real people's homes, saying it's a sacrilege, or some such crap. Hey, at least he's a human!

Death's too good for them. I hope they get put aside is a disused lavortory somewhere and they all get eaten by moths. F*ckin' mups.

To me, the younger (ahem, PC warning) african americans have always been more touchy about race than anyone else. I haven't given them a reason to be, so I don't know what's driving them to think that people are against them. It's too bad. :(

To take this slightly more seriously, I really think hispanics tend to be more "racist" because there is a larger language barrier that frequently they have a hard time breaking... and because they are so attached to their culture, it ends up as an "us v. them" thing... even when it's not really.

I wholly agree with you on that one! Like you, I have never given them a reason to think I'm racist, but the younger ones, in fact, probably this and the last generation, are the first ones to scream "RACIST!" I have, however, known some "older" black people and they are/can be some of the coolest and nicest people I know. It's all the ones my age I have a problem getting along with.

I personally hold no opinion, but my sikh friend says that if he was caucasian he'd be locked up just for his choice of words, let alone actual beliefs.

Blacks are hardly in a position to harm other ethnic groups in the US, so their racism, if it exists, is irrelevent.

Living in a black neighborhood, I have to say I can see the racism from some of the people around here. There are people here who don't like us, and don't trust us because we are white. It has made me even more aware of racism in general. I don't think that it's productive to say which race group is 'more racist' since it would probably just promote more of a racist attitude. I think there are some racist people on my block, but there are racist people on every block in America, so even if I did think that black people are more racist (which I don't) then how could I be sure that I don't have a biased opinion based on the fact that there is some racism pointed in my general direction right now?

And you'd be right. The Chinese and Japanese sit atop the Asian race pyramid, fighting it out. Just beneath them are the Koreans. Much further down are the Southeast Asians, in or near this order, according to folks I've talked to about this subject: Thai, Malaysians, Vietnamese, Laotians, Cambodians, and Indonesians. And finally, according to my Chinese friends who were laughing their asses off at Carlos Mencia's "No Strings Attached" stand-up routine at the time, the Filipinos are the beaners of the Asian world.

I have perceived, through my past experiences, a sense of racism from blacks above any other group. I believe this is a result of the culture many are invariably subjected to and surrounded by, promoting involvement and unity amongst themselves, along with a certain coldness towards those of white ethnicity. Generalizations are without exception inaccurate to some degree, and establishing that is necessary if this sensitive subject is to be discussed in a rational manner, free of the societal restraints imposed upon us, as if we should be ashamed for expressing our views and fearful that we be deemed racist for even daring to speculate.

I think racism is fairly evenly distributed across the board. There are racist Jews, Racist white people, racist arabs, etc.

But they are all part of the fringe groups and do not reflect the whole group as a whole.

I assume by that statement you've been to Japan. I have too. Mention the Ainu or Koreans. You'll see it. The Nihongo are really subtle and far more matter-of-fact (and less dramatic) about it than crackers and Blacks are.

Small nitpick. Nihongo is the language the Nihonjin, or Japanese people, speak.

Also, the Japanese have a very different attitude about gaijin, or foreigners. To a Japanese, only those who are born Japanese can ever really be Japanese. They will always make a distinction between fellow Japanese and gaijin. However, that doesn't mean they won't talk to a gaijin or they won't do business with them; rather, a number of people from the U.S. and Britain are in Japan doing perfectly good business for themselves. Maybe Japanese tend to favor other Japanese in business on some level, but that doesn't mean they exclude gaijin (I don't know how far they take this, really.)

What it also means is that, unlike here, they don't expect you to do as they do. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" does not apply in Japan. When in Tokyo, do as you normally do, and they may gawk at you. I almost went to Japan to study for a year, and I was prepared to be gawked at. After all, you all know the archetype of the typical Japanese male. I stand 6'3" and weigh 270 lbs (that's 191 cm and 123 kilos, for those of you who prefer metric,) I have very short hair, a goatee, I sometimes have trouble controlling the volume of my voice (but I would learn in Japan) and, to the extent that I speak Japanese, I speak it with a very American accent. (My grandfather was quick to point out the high rate of Japanese smokers as well - again, unlike them, I am not a smoker.) I also dress more colorfully than the average Japanese man (though I wonder how dressed-up a number of them really are, considering one of my college Japanese professors was a native Japanese and he dressed like a college student.)

I never really considered the Japanese "racist" so much as "nationalist." And it isn't as if a number of groups are not the same way. Every group has a concept of "we're in the group and you're not," and Americans are borderline unique in the idea that others can "learn" to be like us. We have an idea that people can learn to be like us and, by extension, they should do so. The Japanese have an idea that no one else can be like them, so they don't expect them to and will adapt, at least momentarily, to others. Any group with a culture of any kind is likely to do one or the other.

I find all the groups mentioned to be equally promotional of their own paticular race, which in my opinion is not a bad thing. I find the term racist as nothing more than a politicial tool that has no useful purpose other than to create divisions among people. I believe it to be a governmentally promoted insturment that distracts the population, and prevents it from identifying their true source of pain....Government and Politicial oppourtunists.

I obviously have a biased viewpoint, but it seems to me that at least here in Australia and the Western countries us Asians seem to be one of the most 'integrated' minority groups in society.

I recently heard a summary of a book written by a black Libertain called Ten Things You Can't Say in America. Number 1 was "Blacks are more racsist then Whites." Considering the author was black, I therefore thought the statement maybe had at least some credit to it.

I don't think any particular ethnic group is inherently more likely to be racist than any other group. However, I think that whichever ethnic group is in power will have the greatest ability to act upon any racist sentiments in the majority culture.

when in london i came across something i have never seen before. an all black club. white people had to que, while being frisked as black people were allowed in without queing.

but proably all groups are equally racist. i would say it would be better to catagorize people due to thier country and not race.
