Played Matrix Online

For the hell of it, I brought The Matrix Online and a 60 day pre-paid card. I signed up for their server as "ConfederateXP". The game starts out as you having a choice of either taking the blue pill, or the red pill. I took the red pill. Then it goes through you waking up, being taken aboard a hover craft, and being worked on. Then, you are loaded onto their training programs. Now by this time you already have your own RSI (residual self image), you have your blue pill name (Sean Summer) and red pill name. YOu don't see your blue pill name as much, only when confronted by an agent. Now at the beginning, you go through 3 training program. The first one is an introduction. The next one teaches you close combat. (Think Neo Vs. Morph in The Matrix), and the last one teaches you gun fighting. After that you jack into the Matrix. From here you can either talk to the "collectors" which will have you do task for them in exchange for gift like health pills, etc. Or you can call up Zion and do missions for them. You start out by doing missions for Zion, but after you reached a certain point, then the machines and Exiles (program who don't want to be deleted and decide to hide out in The Matrix. Think of the little girl in The Matrix: Revolution). Now most MMPROG games would stop there. However, MoX takes things one step futhur, by adding in a storyline that contiunes after The Matrix: Revolution. You get to take part in this storyline in the game, and on their forums.

Now in The Matrix you can chose three discpline. You can be a coder which is a person that is able to create stuff in the Matrix. A Hacker which is what Neo was. Or an operative and I have no idea what they do. I chose Coder because you get to create your own drone to fight for you or to help you fight.

I actually give this game a 8/10. I like the graphics, I like the game play, the community, and the how they contiune the storyline. However I don't like it when it lags when you get to an area that is heavy with other players. That's my only real complaint about this game, is the lag. So the Matrix Online: 8/10.

Isn't Matrix against God?

It's a cyberpunk sci-fi franchise. Care to explain how?

It's just a movie, and it's just a game.

Well, I suppose you could see it as a metaphor for escaping the falsehood of religion. Then again, it's been interpreted as a metaphor for socialism, and so on, so I suppose it depends on how you see it.

I see it as an intresting triology and a fun game. Although Reload and Revolution could've been done better.

Always the mark of a good movie, when the underlying philosophy is open to debate.

Although some interpretations can be safely dismissed. :p

Yea it's an old game, but I didn't have any way to pay the server without going through my parents, but now that I have a debit card, I can order the pre-paid card and do it that way. Plus, I needed to upgrade my machine.

Has anyone ever wonder why The Oracle (a program) would help the human in trying to take down The Matrix? I mean wouldn't that be an end to her existance as well?

hehe don't worry, you don't have to explain why you're playing an old game - i don't mind... i was just curious cos i remembered seeing ads for the game about and wondered if this was a sequel or whatever. i hardly know a thing about games nowadays - used to be really clued up and subscribed to magazines and all, but now... meh *shrugs*
i think the last game i got was CivIV (unless you count Super Smash Bros Melee, which i bought yesterday, but that wasn't strictly speaking for me... seeing how i don't have a GameCube...)

I also forgot that the RSI are pretty good. You can change clothes, you can strip to almost nakedness (you still have bra/panties or speedos on) and it's basically the real world, but you can bend and break rules in them. I'm a geek I know lol.

Heh, I'd so be on there before you...

As to the franchise...not yet. Star Trek needs a good rest and some original idea's from those fuckers in Paramount. It's not like there's a shortage of them. What about Section 31? Or the Temporal Time Investigators from 'Trial and Tribble-ations'? Those would make brilliant and original idea's for a program. Imagine, the Section 31 series - a Federation subsection that goes against everything it stands for, yet exists ironically to defend it.

Plus there's always Star Trek XI: The Beginning - If it ever comes out...

After the Star Wars Galaxies fiasco I'm waiting for Star Trek Online to get into another MMORPG (it just rolls down your tongue, doesnt it?). It's supposed to be out this summer or thereabouts.

I can't wait!

I'm gonna get a Sovereign-Class starship, and a phaser, and a Batleth, and see Data, and see Picard and explore the universe and fight the Borg...

Isn't Matrix against God?

One can only hope.

Personally, I'm still waiting on "World of Jesus". WoJ is the mmorpg where you can choose to be a Zealot, a Prophet, a Roman, an Isrealite, or a Heretic, and then go through all manner of exciting quests, build up skills, ride around on camels, beat your children, and subjugate your wife with impugnity.

In the end, everyone gets to stab Jesus in the crotch with a spear.

As for pissing off God, from what I can tell, God's general punishment for really pissing him off is granting immortality. So, hey.

If there was a Star Trek roleplaying game, I'd be there in a hot second! The first thing my character would do would be to find a holodeck and load up a good roleplaying game. :D
