I have wondered about this for a long time and would like to get some views from others.

I was expecting a more ethusiastic response rate.....even if only in the "other" column.

Can anyone confirm whether there will be a new version of Medieval Total War with graphics at the same level or better than Rome Total War?

Civilization ain't up there!
And on a similar note I'm getting Empire at War (an RTS, but strategy nonetheless) today

I played Civilization and found it kinda crappy. I didn't think it really deserved to be u there on the experience I had with it. There's always "other" as an option.

Isn't advance wars a very simlistic turn based game? I would have thought it would have got boring very quickly

Considering the following Civilization has, it really should have been an option, IMHO. (And yes, I vote for Civilzation.)

Yes there is a new one coming out. I Believe it is covering the later part of the medieval era..like 1300-1500s or something like that. it is supposed to have rather good graphics

Medieval 2 will apparently cover up to the Early Modern Era and include South America on the map. With better graphics than RTW. According to an interview i read the other day whilst browsing nerdy PC mags in WH Smiths.

Civilization. Rome Total War was good, but only in theory. In practice it was a bit dull tbh, even with mods.

HomeworldAnd Homeworld2. Those are freaking sweet. My vision of the ultimate strategy game would be to make a galaxy conquest game ala SW: Rebellion, plus space fleet battles like Homeworld, plus ground battles like Rome:TW or Medieval2.

Hearts of Iron 2

It is the only game I know of that one can turn Canada into a Superpower. I took on Nazi Germany and beat them by 1940-41. Then I beat Ecuador in a month. Then Japan, I had them trapped on their home islands. Then I turned to the Soviet Union......they steam rolled my army in Europe. But I started a new game so that never really happened.

Hellooooooo? Command and Conquer? Best strategy game of all time? Anyone? Is this thing on?

...

Why is Rise of Nations not on this list? It took the formulas established in most of those strategy games and improved upon them one hundred fold while adding in elements of turn based strategy games. RoN is far superior to anything on that list. And I've played them all.
