Are you thinking of the Presidents of the United States of America? I'm not sure I've heard of this other band.
Nope.
As a matter of fact, if you go to the Wikipedia article about The United States of America (band) it says "This article is not about the 90's alternative group, The Presidents of the United States of America."
Conversely, if you go to the page about The Presidents of the United States of America, it says "This article is not about the 60's group, The United States of America."
I have to quite Hedwig and the Angry Inch: (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0248845/) "He sang the strangest songs to me, by bands I had never heard of: Boston, Kansas, America, Europe, Asia. Travel exhausts me."

That film is hilarious!

Wow, you take Bad Religion off that list, and add Social Distortion, Rage Against the Machine, and Marilyn Manson and you and I are pretty much identical... Great taste....

experimental psychedelia with healthy doses of electronic sound.Ah, thank you. I am planning on widening my experimental psychedelia music collection (this is true) and so I will put them on my list of things to buy.
I'm obliged to compliment you once more on your awesome music taste. Why thank you, kind sir, yours is awesome, also.

Marilyn Manson could've made that list I made. I like Social Distortion, but not enough to put them on my "very favorites" list. Zach de la Rocha's voice irritates me, though much less so than it used to, so while I don't like RATM now, I may eventually become immune to his voice and start to like them.
