Awsome, Ricers suck.

And as for " v-dub ", youd be hardpressed to find a company that builds vehicals as well as VW does for the price.

I love those commercials.

Oh, those Germans and their badass cars. Too bad we don't have the roads to drive them on here.

I'm having a hard time letting go of the VR6 GTi, and I think given the choice I might instead try and find a used R32 instead, but yeah. I'm a long time fan of the GTi, all the way back to the first one. I'll admit that it's got challengers (for the money I think you can get a WRX, it's hard to make anything but an emotional plea at that point) but I just really like those cars. I lived vicariously through a friend who I talked into buying a VR6 GTi, what a blast that car was, more fun to drive (for me) than the Civic whatevertheinitialsare that had the shifter coming out of the dash, which was still fun.

I like the Fast ads. I want one of those Fasts. But that dude in the ads just cracks me up.

"I want the money, Lebowski..."

Only car ad possibly better is Dodge's Charger Hybrid print ad.

It burns gas and rubber.

You should come to Northern California, we have a ton of twisty tight roads that have little traffic that are a blast to drive on. I live on one, motorcyclists come here like it's mecca (for motorcyclists) and the sports cars...I followed a Lotus Esprit V8 to the movies today...there are at least three Elises that live near by, and the vintage sports cars, man alive-Alfas, Triumphs, MGs, Lotus, Porsches...it's pretty cool.

I thought so too ... till we got the advisory at our fire department

Apparently you cant cut the front two door posts first (normal procedure) in the jeta

The frame is not strong enough to support the entire weight of the car

It will sag if you cut the roof off

Personaly I would be rather scared to ride in such a car

We have to jack the dash first now ... a lot harder proposition doing before the roof is off

"I want the money, Lebowski..."

Did you see him in Fargo, 8mm, or his nifty bit as "The Devil" in Constantine?

He's also a cool pissy cosmonaut in Armageddon.

Fargo and Constantine. He's cool, but not cool enough to get me to watch Armageddon...

But only from Abt.

My wife has given me a brutally enforced limit on the number of erotic experiences I'm allowed to have on the internet, and because of those "True" online dating service ads, I'm spent until August...

No no, your car shopping...I'm sure she'll buy that (says the single guy...)

I should say that the best car ad is probably that one where the Puegot transforms and dances.

Not sure if Puegot (French?) has a big enough market share in my neck of the woods to make airtime worth it for them, so I don't think I've seen that one.

You see that cross-promo ad for the Harrison Ford movie "Firewall" that's also an advertisement for the 300C?

It's a Citroen, and I like the Peugeot ad better where the Indian guy restyles his car to look like the one in the catalogue, using a hammer, a saw and an elephant.

So very cool indeed (http://www.clipland.com/Video/501002055/#)...

Aparantly I had the make wrong, and they don't sell either car in my country. I had to see it through the grace of someone here on NS.

I saw that Chrysler thing. They did that with the Intrigue and the X-Files movie. I don't know how well that worked out...

Oh, and of course the classics...

Don't look if you like cats, or pigeons. I won't take responsibility for anyone being offended.

'Cog' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh97oYCJ-Ok&search=cog) by Honda wins everything. No computers involved, it took over 600 takes before it eventually worked.

That is an awesome clip, but I don't believe for a second that there weren' any computers involved. (Well, okay, if you say so and if you swear you're not lying, then okay. But still.)**

The Peugeot one with the elephant is also great.

But I do have some serious issues with the one in the OP. Come on, they couldn't have taken a real German for once? Seriously, we have enough people who speak hideous English - use them already! This guy is nothing compared to what could have been. (Of course, then I would have been really embarrassed, so maybe it's for the best.)

**Edit: Of course I still can't believe that this clip (http://www.bravia-advert.com/) was done without computers, so maybe I'm just naturally sceptic. (Not a car ad, btw)

That is an actual honda ad that took over 600 shots to work. Find it on limewire and run it frame by frame if you dont beleive it.

A hip-hop speaking German, pure comedy gold I tell you!
On a similar hip-hop note, does anybody enjoy those 'poser mobile' commercials?
