he concept of yin and yang (Traditional Chinese: 陰陽; Simplified Chinese: 阴阳; Pinyin: yīnyáng; Korean hangul: 음양; hanja: 陰陽; revised: eumyang; McCune-Reischauer: ŭmyang; Vietnamese: Âm-Dương) originates in ancient Chinese philosophy and metaphysics, which describes two primal opposing but complementary forces found in all things in the universe. Yin, the darker element, is passive, dark, feminine, downward-seeking, and corresponds to the night; yang, the brighter element, is active, light, masculine, upward-seeking and corresponds to the day. Yin is often symbolized by water, while yang is symbolized by fire.
Me and my girlfriend (yes I finally have one) were talking about how we came from diffrent backgrounds, and yet have many things in common, and we have the same thoughts on alot of diffrent subject. However, we also have some significant diffrences. Mainly our family/home life, and the way we were brought up etc. Then I got to thinking about Ying and Yang. Two opposites are able to work together to create harmony. What do you guys think, am I thinking Ying and Yang in the correct terms?

That just shows you that the Matrix programmers got sloppy and only made up a few life-stories.

Huh? How did a popular sci-fi movie which rocks get into this convo about ancient Chinese philosophy?

Confucious originally wrote the original script for The Matrix as a light-hearted comedy about a cow that could solve mysteries who was in love block of wood (named Neo). However, since it was written in Modern English no one understood what it meant, and it was lost.
Later, the Wachowski brothers discovered it and, after a bit of mild editting, turned it into the movie that everyone knows about today.

Hmmm I think that being boyfriend and girlfriend and being from different backgrounds is fine, but it's when you get married and/or have babies that the cracks begin to show, if you were brought up very differntly you will have very different ideas about how to raise your children and how your home should run, it's then that the differences matter. Also, if you/they think that your partners family are better/worse than yours because you think that they brought them up better/worse than your family raised you, that can cause problems too...ahhh I think its best to marry your sibling, that way you have no issues about stuff like this....
*no wait, that's terrible advice.....I am an only child...
I am very much in love with a man from a different continent and 11 years older than me, so please ignore this totally, as love ignores all advice.

AS I understand it you'd have to have opposing thoughts on different subjects, yet still live harmoniously.
