I don't know what the hell is going on but as of recently I have been unable to get online due to the fact that my university is behind a firewall, which has made my ability to get on IRC near to impossible. When I am finally able to get on IRC I get this message:

Closing Link: 62.116.121.242 Jenny|California (Killed (OperServ (You are banned from this network: HostingXPro ban evasion #l, kill on sight.)))

What the hell is going on? I would have had to have been online to do something to warrant this ban, but I haven't even been able to load Chatzilla, mIRC, JPIRC, Polaris or any other IRC client to even get online to do anything worthy of a ban. So please tell me what the hell is going on.

The IRC network might have banned someone with your IP address. It might have also banned the IP range used by your university. I suggest e-mailing the network in question and asking why your IP was banned.

I was once set for autokill because someone with an IP similar to mine was running open proxies. It usually takes a day or two for them to get to your inquiry, but EsperNet is quite good at resolving problems from everything I've seen.

If we're talking about the EsperNet IRC Network, you can contact them via their home page (http://www.esper.net/).
