For all time best, I'd have to go with Neil Peart (Rush)!
The fastest IMO, would be Mike Smith (Suffocation)!

I would have to vote the drummer for Tool, don't know his name offhand. Not only is he incredibly fast, but he can do any sort of rhythm perfectly. But didn't the drummer for Def Leoppard only have one arm?

the dude from suffocation is good, even if i don't like them much. he's black isn't he??? or, is that the guitar player? and the singer is a bald white guy. again, even though i'm not into death metal a lot, they're pretty amazing.

Rick Allen was the drummer for Def Leppard. He has got to go in the books for doing it with just one (althoug he started with two).

Yoshiki from X-Japan.

His speed is godly on drums (heard from his solo...like 10 minutes long...and holy crap was it amazing), he also plays the piano VERY VERY well. He should at least hold the fastest title if not the best.

Who cares about fast? Fast doesn't prove a damn thing.

Keith Moon, however, will always be the best.

Actually, the drummer & guitarist for Suffocation were both black!!! I know Mike Smith is no longer with Suffocation! I'm not sure about the guitarist!

Neil Peart is also very good, plus he's a lyricist.

Yoshiki is very very good, fastest is different, but he's the best in my book from all the drummers I heard. The guy plays the piano and does drums for his SOLO act. I don't know of anyone that can top his performances.
