I found that creature when I was two years old. I collect them all the time. They're great with pasta.

If you really are new to the forum, and not just a puppet of an older nation, I suggest you take the time to form a more informed opinion of other posters. Reading the ToS is also a good idea. Flaming another poster is not accepted here.

Dude, you need to get your humor meter checked.

In any case the lobster lives too deep (about 7,500 feet) to use eyes. It's blind, and only posesses a "vesitgial membrane" where they would normally be.

In some cases, that's true. It all boils down to where you veer on the political spectrum. Generally, the further to the left someone leans, the greater the chance is they can get away with flaming.
Sumamba Buwhan

it only seems that way because the people on the right of the political spectrum are always causing so much trouble, you just see a lot more of them get punished. :p

I feel that there could be a market niche for these things - fluffy crustaceans.
We need to harvest them from the sea and sell them as soveniers - think of the money!

(btw, is there an issue like that? - it could be quite good)

True, but one of the nastiest posters on here (who I won't name; and no, it's not someone who posted in this thread) gets away with personal attacks, trolling, baiting, and flaming all the time, and, to my knowledge, has never even received a warning.

Well that's an interesting, and unprovable theory. I've seen very few instances of a poster directly attacking another, and getting away with it 'because of where they fall on the political spectrum'. Assholery is independent of political alignment.

I'm speaking as one who sometimes falls prey to assholery, by the way...and believe me, I've been spanked for it.

Hey, Roach...TG me who you're talking about? (the nasty one who gets away with it)

I say it would. Although you'd have to kill an awful lot of them. So they'd probably be incredibly expensive wigs and coats.

Personally I think these things would make better attack animals. Think about it, someone see's one scuttling towards them and they're thinkin 'Aww look at the cute fluffy thingy'. Then it gets busy with the pincers.

it does look cute. i'm not sure it would be possible to keep one as a pet. if it comes from such great depthes could it survive at the same atmospheric pressures we can? i'd love to have a plushie of one though.

great challange for soft sculpture artists.

not that i could afford to make it worth their time.

A note: said "fur" likely has none but the most superficial of structural and functional affinities with mammalian hair.

That being said, "hirsute" crustaceans are not all that unusual.

In lobsters, the meat is primarily in the tail and claws. There's no place for meat on this. I suppose, technically it can be edible, there's just nothing on it to eat.

People will eat anything.

OK based off of having seen pictures of deep sea hairy worms, I'm going to guess that the hairs contain extremophile bacteria that exist in symbiosis with the crab, helping him survive sticking his arms in hot places, if this turns out to be true.. I CALLED IT!
