Video card help

I just installed ATI Radeon 9250 (PCI) and I just installed it's driver. However, my computer is still running off of the old video card. How do I get the computer to change video cards? The new one has 256MB. My computer is a Compaq Presario 7600.

I assume you uninstalled the old software and the card itself? In either case, I assume you plugged the moniter into the new one? If so, did you try changing the display settings? Also, mess around with the device manager, my display card is VGA or whatever (not PCI) so I wouldn't be the best of help. I'm sure UpwardThrust would be much more helpful.

EDIT: yeah, make sure the computer actually knows that the new video card is there and the old one isn't. If it still doesn't work, I'm of no use right now.

Ahh, I didn't uninstall the driver to the old card, was afraid I would screw everything up lol.

Thats my advice. Telegram him a link to this thread. He'll help you out, then show pictures of his computer.

Are youon a Laptop or a Desktop. If you are on a Lappy, you are in for a harder time.

Alright is your old card a built in? (I am assuming so unless you are using AGP and PCI)

Anyways working with the assumtion it is a built in (to mobo card) (the old one) you will have to turn the old one off in bios

Boot to bios and look for the option
(Usualy F2, F10 ,F12, ESC or DEL) I will see if I can find a good discription of your model online so I can walk you through it more
