Strongest pistol? BB hand gun. Strongest other? Bolt-action rifle... or 12-gauge. I'm not sure which is stronger (what with the spread and all).

Sorry for the discrepancy between the poll and the Thread.

That confused me. I was going to awnser 120mm followed by 50 cal. Then you had pistol calibers so I awnsered 9mm. I may have fired a 45 once but I cant remember for sure. I forgot about shotguns too.

A BB gun is not a firearm. Firearm denotates concussion fired by means of an explosive (gunpowder)

Fired a 66 KES 88, so the caliber would be 66mm. I suppose it's a 'firearm'...

Edit: Its seems to be called M-72 LAW in the US.

In a pistol -I've fired a Smith & Wesson .44 magnum revolver several times.

In a rifle- I dont know which was larger- a .44-40 ( a really cool pump action rifle-May have been a Colt?) or a Winchester 300 Magnum.

People at my range consider me mastocistic, recoil doesn't bother me.
The only thing that prevents my from shooting more is the cost of my ammunition. 14.5mm for my PTRS isn't as cheap as it used to be.

I cannot recall anything larger than a .308 in rifles, although as a child my father had a 7mm magnum which I may have fired at some time.

.44 (magnum, of course) in pistols or .45 depending upon what you want to measure.

also, some home made rockets that where 2 inch. They took off like a mother. About 2 feet long, soild fuel. (dunno if counts as fire arm...im looking at it like rocket artillery...which for all pratical purposes, is used like a fire arm. However, it was not fired by specific impulse, but by alonger impulse) either way, it was a fun sunday afternoon.

I've fired numerous .22 (rifles and handguns), a .38 revolver, a .357 revolver, a .45 pistol. I have also fired an 8mm K98 mauser (made in 1938 in Belgium), a 7.62 mosin nagant (made in Russia in 1942) as well as a 7.62 by 34 SKS (also a Soviet toy). Oh yeah, and a 20 gauge and 12 gauge shotguns. Hmmm, I also shot a Winchester 30 30 (not a replica, made in 1870s).

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I find it fascinating for some reason that 29% of the people responding to the poll have never fired a gun. I don't know what this means, if anything, but for some reason it bothers me. I grew up with and around guns, getting a .22 for my 9th birthday, so the idea that someone has no experience with guns goes against my upbringing. It's just strange to me to think that so many people have never fired a gun and it worries me to think that people who make gun national gun policy have never even used a gun.

Sorry for the digression, I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. :)

Pistol: Colt .45 Officers model (Probably my favorite pistol too, although the .357 is a close second)
Rifle: .22 Rimfire (Not very big I admit, I don't do much Rifle shooting though>)
Shotgun: 12 gauge, fairly standard all told.
other: 8 pound cannon, with a nearly four inch bore, that probably beats anything besides a modern MBT or artillery. and certainly the most anachronistic firearm on the board, outside I suppose a musket.

Really, if you think about it for even a second, it's not at all unusual for people to have strong opinions on something they know nothing about. Here on NS General, I'd say the uniformed opinions usually surpass the informed, at least in quantity.

Thanks. IN checking out the picture you showed-I'm pretty sure it was a Colt. I felt it was valuable based on the fact it was a pump action and I hadnt ever seen one. I wanted to buy it, but my friend wisely chose to keep it. He gave me ammo to fire when I was using it-I chose not to fire the magnum rounds he included. Luckily.

The .44-40 and .44 Mag are essentially the same case, with the .44mag having thicker brass. If you put a .44mag load in a .44-40 you will ruin a fine old antique.

Since I was 13 and weighed about 70 pounds, it nearly knocked me flat. It belonged to my uncle, since I personally have never owned a gun. As an , the only thing I've fired much is a 12 gauge pump action shotgun, which is what we used in the Texas State Guard.
The only gun I really ever wanted to own was one my mother used to have. A chrome .45 revolver with a mother of pearl grip. A very pretty piece my father gave her one Valentine's day. What a romantic.

Well, many might not be from the US, or Canada, or another place where guns are used a lot.

In Germany there was a shooting club, but that was only and strictly sports. No one goes hunting because there is nothing left to hunt, and for self-defence I'm not even sure they would be allowed.

So given that, I don't think it should be too surprising that the biggest gun I ever fired was a spring-powered airsoft.

i am someone who has used guns for a large part of my adolescent years (mostly this kind also .22 target rifles and some sort of lmg can't remember what type tho) and i happen to be pro gun control simply because guns are entirelly unnecessary and allowing unrestricted private ownership is dangerous. you only have to look at the statistics to understand that. the proportion of murders using firearms is always higher in countries where gun control is lax.

5.56:
Rifle/Carbine, : AK5 (http://www.soldf.com/ak5.html) a,b and cf (it's swedish remakes of the FNC, a is the standard infantryman-weapon) (the cf is to the a as the M4 SOFMOD is to the M16 in comparison, same shit only you can put more useless crap on it)
Machinegun: Minime (http://www.soldf.com/ksp90.html)
Pistol: None

7.62:
Machinegun: Ksp58 (http://www.soldf.com/ksp58.html)...Fun unless you get to carry it.
Rifle: none
Pistol: none

9mm:
AT4-trainingtube, it's basicly an AT4 (http://www.soldf.com/pskott.html) with a pistol built in, you fire traced 9mm to get a feel for the weapon since it's kinda expensive and dangerous to fire away 20.000 SEK (2500USD) worth of explosives for 1 practice-shot. Feels kinda pathetic fireing it...just a sound *bomp* and that's it, you hardly even feel it, sure would have been nice to fire of a live round just for the hell of it tough.

Now, if you include guns that actually make sense to legally use to hunt... i.e., rifles (And not the semi/full automatic ones) then I've used a firearm.
