A moral decision...

If you could risk the world, and the lives of everyone on it including you, but you could possibly get $10,000,000,000 would you do it?

Knowing my luck, the world would be toasted if I took this bet, no matter the odds. :p
That, and I've never seen the point of having more money than I know what to do with... so long as I have enough to live reasonably comfortably, that's good enough for me.

For $10 billion? The world's going to be destroyed anyway, so why not take the money? Wait, I'd get money regardless, so the higher the chance of the Earth being destroyed doesn't matter, then, does it? Rather it should be the payout is the fraction of whatever the chance would be. So up it to $20 billion and leave the 50/50 and you have yourself a deal!

If we were talking about 10 times as much money, I'd do it at one to a billion odds. Being that unlucky prolly means I'd end up destroying the planet anyway, and imagine the amount of problems one could solve with that kind of money.

I think that human life as a whole sucks, and fuck all the other cutesy animals (You KNOW those are the only ones you care about), and that it should be destroyed, and 10 billion dollars would be nice...so either way, I get what I want!

I'd do it if the chance of destruction was extremely low, and use the money for some charitable cause.

The world may be totally screwed, but Im sure (even if they would be dead) that nobody would be happy with me and my luck!

I'd do it if the odds were 99:1. I don't see the destruction of earth and everybody on it as necessarily a bad thing, and it would certainly end a lot of suffering.

And if it didn't get destroyed, my and my family's future is set.

Hmm the question is: Do I really care about the welfare outside of my world?

Can I take the money and the people I know, move to the moon, and watch the world burn? Insuring that the remnants of humanity will not only live on but peacefully, but prosperously as well.

For if I do take the money and the world is safe, I will only lose it to the wickedness of other men. Rather I can rebuild society, in my image, and start anew. Hmm *rubs chin*

No.
If that was only about destroying myself, I might just take it. But I wouldn't ever risk anybody else on that.

Hmm. 10 billion dollars? That would suck 'cause would probably get me murdered anyway. So nah, no point. Save the world.

You know, money is worthless without something guaranteeing its worth and having something to buy. I'm pretty sure you and your friends won't be buying houses and cars in the Moon from each other.

I'd take the bed if there was a 99.9% chance of destruction :D I'm feeling lucky today...

Well, If the world is destroyed, no-one will know. And if it isn't, then I get 10 billion dollars. Win-win.

I realize that, I'm just trying to produce a scenario that if I could recreate paradise for maybe ten people and then destroy the rest of the human race I would.

Here's the way I see it: The world is going to be destroyed eventually, sooner or later. However, in an alternate universe, the world has already been destroyed; in another AU, the world has been destroyed and reborn. Eventually, in this universe, the world will be destroyed and probably reborn again eventually. The first single-celled organisms will create multiple-celled creatures in the sea, which will eventually come to land, and some 400 million years later humans will be born, and some 10,000 years after that some random guy in a curious nation called the United States will ask the question: Would you take ten million slips of paper which are worth absolutely nothing other than what the government tells you they are worth, if you knew there was a possibility that the world would end? And then another curious boy will begin typing a response which begins, "Here's the way I see it . . ."

One in a hundred sounds reasonable.Like I says, I don't want to die, but I wouldn't be around to care if I did.
