Harry Truman.
Sure, you can argue whether the atom bomb was more than needed to win the war(though it worked). But other than this, there is really little to nothing you can fault him for. He has one controversy, that is really only a controversy in hindsight, and for the rest, he did his job as he was supposed to.
Thats my idea of a president.
most people would say abe lincoln. i'd have to agree.

Killing Saddam Hussein would be murder, unless it was as the result of a death penalty imposed upon him after conviction of a crime by a trial.

You're right in one aspect; the South WAS part of the United States. Emphasis on WAS!! South Carolina CONSTITUTIONALLY and LAWFULLY seceeded. If you belive secession was illegal, go read the Declaration of Independance. Lincoln himself declared the legality of secession in 1847, but oh, wait! That was BEFORE it was his empire!!! When Lincoln invaded SC, he pushed the South over the edge and the rest followed SC's suit, all LEGALLY!
And just because it is lawful to terminate pregnancies doesn't make it a moral right. Slavery was once legal too, remember? Are you saying when the baby is halfway born (i.e. partial-birth abortion) it still isn't a human being? You're insane.
And, you are quite an alleger, accusing me of being racist just because I am loyal to my section, ancestry, and past, not to mention the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independance. I hurt for you!

False. My ancestors were farmers; one in particular had 8 kids, 200 acres in Mississippi, and joined to fight for the Confederacy and age 45, and never, ever owned a single slave. He died fighting for independence, just as the revolutionists of 1776+. Oh, I'm sure it's different, huh?

I did not accuse you of being racist. I accused you of being proud of your racist past, a past that truly believed that black people were less than white people and that it was perfectly acceptable to enslave them. Regardless of what you now believe, your past is racist, and your pride in such racism is troubling.

True or False: Slaves were owned in the North as well as South?
Don't get me wrong, I probably would have supported the war as well, on the basis of ending slavery, but here are a couple facts.
Lincoln himself said that freeing the slaves was a means to an end, (not in those words)
Lincoln didn't have the support of any of the southern states. The north and west elected Lincoln.
Finally, there was the whole free factory worker thing in the north, which I won't pretend to know anything about, but which should probably be brought up.

True! History proves it, but nobody knows it unless they want to. For instance, Ulysses Grant owned household slaves, which were not freed until the North's victory demanded it. Robert E. Lee freed his wife's inherited slaves immediately after her father's death, as lined out in his will. "Stonewall" Jackson never owned slaves. Neither of them, like my ancestors, fought for preservation of slavery, but rather for Southern independence.

Yes, secession can indeed be a moral wrong, when secession is a tool to defend the disgusting subjugation and exploitation of a class of people. That's what slavery was, and that was what the Confederate States were defending.

Not just bigots, but traitors as well, then.
Traitors with ugly, grey uniforms.
So why then did the south want independence? So they could marry their cousins and have sex with their mothers? Or so they could own slaves?
They wanted independence to preserve a proud heritage and culture of a Christian people. They believed in strict adherence to the Constitution and to the Bible, and Lincoln clearly did not. He instituted a government so corrupt and anti-Constitutional that it is still alive and thriving today, with Bush having the largest, most unConstitutional, most corrupt, most bloated, and most expensive government in the history of the United States.

The blue uniforms of the North were snazzier, no question about it.
