What/who do you need in your life to be happy and satisfied?

if i knew, i would be. :p

Food, shelter, the ability to express myself & associate freely with others, opportunities to better myself & the desire to achieve various things.

A lover & some ideals helps.

I will, promise. But I feel I'm in a somewhat similar situation, like walking a tightrope without a safety net.

To be happy: Marry a nice girl, have 2.4 children, get a "have a nice day at work honey" on my way out the door.

To be satisfied: Complete my PhD by age 26, crack the RSA cipher and invent an extremely ingenious new cryptosystem by 32, solve the Riemann Hypothesis by 50.

Dunno if you know this already but you should check out the NCAD student art shop on 113 Thomas St. Sometimes their prices are better than Evans (who are another great shop just by the Luas tracks off Capel St).

1. Relatively good physical health.

With the above, I can be happy enough. Some other things can make it better or worse depending on circumstances, but that's basically it.

What would make me happy:
Waking up in the morning next to the person I want to wake up next to in the morning with the realization that they want me to wake up next to them and that its not going to change.

the will to be happy. Seriously, if my happiness was based on other people and external things, I wouldn't ever be happy.

There are things that make life a little more enjoyable, one of which is sex...... and lots of it. :p

It's an internal experience, subjective by nature, but I would not go so far as to call happiness an illusion. Something must be gained for it to be lost.

But so is anger, sadness, grief, and all other emotions. No use worrying over any one of them, it's best to ride out whichever you're feeling at the moment.
