They're acutally people dressed up as Native Americans.

Time for a history lesson.

The Redskins started out as the Boston Braves but changed there name to the Boston Redskins to be different from the baseball team. If you remember the American Revolution you know of the Boston Tea Party where they dressed up as Native Americans and threw tea into the river. Boston and Native Americans go together perfectly.

The team later moved to Washington D.C. where they are today.

Nice "history lesson". Too bad it doesn't detract from the shameful nickname. Bad enough teams are still called Indians and Braves, but an actual epithet? Yikes.

That, and the team really sucks, too. Should be the Washington Foreskins.

My cousin was the equipment manager for the Washington Redskins for many a year from the 80s- late 90s won superbowl rings with them (4 or 5 I believe you get one just for going)I've only seen 3 of them though. They're fucking huge.

He was also in one of the Madden games for PS1 2000 I believe it was, on the All-equipment team.

Why whine about political incorrectness? Don't be so sensitive. I wouldn't be offended if they made a team called the "whiteskins." The name's got nothing to do with racism.

Personally I am not a redskins fan. But I would sooner cheer for them than I would for my home team, the Texans (ugh).

It's not abou political correctness. It's about not being intolerant. "Whiteskins" is not a derogatory name for white people. "Redskins" is a derogatory name. I'm sure alot of people would be upset if they were called the Washington "Niggers" instead.

LOL, you're so wrong if you think they suck. Clearly you didn't see them go 5-1 in the NFC East, which was tied for the most wins this season. Clearly you didn't see them get back to the playoffs and win a game with the second hardest schedule of any team this year. Clearly you didn't see them take a less than average Santana Moss and make him into the second best WR in the NFL. They don't suck anymore, they're one of the best, only six teams won a game in the playoffs.

Right.

NFC Champs? No. Even get to the NFC Championship? Uh, no. Clearly I saw them get beat in the playoffs. I appreciate your loyalty, and in fact, share that same level of rabidity for my team, but "second hardest schedule of any team this year"? Please. NO team in the NFC had a hard schedule, mine included.

By the way, only six teams EVER win a game in the playoffs in the first round. 12 teams in, six MUST win, right? So how's that anything special?

The Redskins only won three Super Bowls. 1982, 1987, and 1991.

They did have the second hardest schedule, that's a fact, check for yourself.

The fact that winning in the playoffs is so special is for the same reason you said, only six teams can win in the playoffs, and they're one of them.

They also had only one bad lost all season and the owner had just died before that game, any team would have lost badly.

Yeah, I forgot the owners name so I didn't put it. The Giants played with way more emotion and wanted to win for the owner.

Only White People cry about this kind of thing, you wont go down and work at soup kitchen or warming station but you will damned sure piss your pants and stomp your feet about nothing important.

Yeah, I bet all those poor natives are really pissed about the "RedSkin" thing--feck the no electricity or running water on half the reservations in the South West---we have to do something about that evil NFL.

Yeah, I am a Skins fan.

I certainly wouldn't put them in the top 10.

Indianapolis
Pittsburgh
Cincinnati
New England
Denver
San Diego
Carolina
Seattle
Kansas City
Chicago
NY Giants

That list isn't in any particular order, just teams that are stronger than the Redskins. They're slightly above average.

They beat the Bear's, there defence could stop the Bengels offence and they're offence could run through the Bengels defence. The Giants are waaaaaaaay over-rated.

If toughness didn't matter, I could bring up how the Redskins beat the 49ers 52-17. See, if it's easy it doesn't matter.

First of all, what makes you so sure I am white?

Second of all, I have worked at soup kitchens.

Third of all, while the name of an NFL team is certainly now the highest priority for most Native Americans, the blatant racism that both that and the lack of running water and electricity are evidence of is a high priority.
